RHEL7/Centos7 with Samba AD
Hi All, I know RHEL has bad press here but I'd like to share a different opinion (works for me) and maybe share some of my settings. BTW, Those views are my own, not those of my employer. I run a small AD at home. The setup is as follows: - two AD DCs (RHEL7.6 KVM virtual machines + Samba 4.8.7 rpms based on SPECs from TranquilIT/Fedora). - several Win10 laptops joined to the domain. -

Update from el7.4 to el7.5 broke samba 4.6.14
Hi Rowland, Yes, that's right (Thank you). Here is what happened: On the DC's, libldb was this version on el7.4: - libldb-1.1.29-2.el7_4.wing.x86_64 (from Wing's repo). el7.5 brought in a more recent version: - libldb-1.2.2-1.el7.x86_64 - libldb-1.2.2-1.el7.i686 What would be the best course of action here? A) Downgrade el7.5 to libldb-1.1.29-2.el7_4.wing.x86_64? B) rebuild

Update from el7.4 to el7.5 broke samba 4.6.14
Hi all, After upgrading my first Samba AD DC from el7.4 to el7.5, I had the pain of being greeted with a non-fonctional Samba. When I used samba-tool, I was greeted with that message: root at dc00 ~]# samba-tool dbcheck ldb: module version mismatch in ../source4/dsdb/samdb/ldb_modules/acl.c : ldb_version=1.2.2 module_version=1.1.29 ldb: failed to initialise module /usr/lib64/samba/ldb/acl.so :

Update from el7.4 to el7.5 broke samba 4.6.14
Hi Rowland, Yes, I noticed that el7.5 had samba 4.7.1. Unfortunately, one cannot use that version as an AD DC. Here's the situation: # rpm -ql samba-dc /usr/share/doc/samba-dc-4.7.1 /usr/share/doc/samba-dc-4.7.1/README.dc (and it mentions that because of MIT kerberos the samba AD DC features cannot be enabled on el7 at this moment). Perhaps the best way forward would be to rebuild

The 'not-always-on' infrastructure at home and Samba4 AD DC's..
Hi everyone, Apologies in advance, this will be a bit long but I'm hoping to get some guidance and hints on usual practices for using Samba4 AD DC as an Idm for W10 laptops that might be on the road elsewhere.. As much as I have been using samba for file serving, a Samba AD DC is something new to me. I built a small Samba AD DC infrastructure to serve UIDs and Passwords (4 VMs on 4 KVM

AD DC on rhel/centos 7.4
hi, is anybody successfully rebuild official samba rpm package on rhel/centos 7.4? I try to follow the instruction in this mail: https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2017-February/206723.html but it's only working up to 7.3 since in 7.4 samba-4.6.2 included which require gnutls 3.4.7 (which require nettle-3.1.1). I'm not able to rebuild gnutls since it can't be replaced. the only

Distro and release recommended
Hi community, I'd like to deploy a SAMBA4 as a Active Directory Domain Controller. It's for around 30 domain users and 60 hosts. AFAIK CentOS package does not support AD DC role, I thought in Debian, but the release available in their repo's is 4.5.x. So would you recommend: - Compiling from sources? - To use backports - Choose some other distro? So, in short, what distro and

Samba 4.8.11 for rhel7/centos7 rpms
Hi everyone, In case anyone's interested, I've posted the rpm builds of samba 4.8.11 that I'm using on RHEL7.6. (I run these in VMs, serving as AD DCs for my SOHO). Comments most welcomed. http://nova.polymtl.ca/~coyote/dist/samba/samba-4.8.11 If you're on RHEL7/Centos7, you've got several repos to choose from: http://azzurro.ezplanet.net/el7

unexplained Replication failures...?
Hi all, I'm running in circles trying to debug replication failures on samba 4.7.6: dc00 : is a VM on KVM host (attached to a bridge on local LAN) dc01 : is a similarly configured VM on another KVM host. I've forcibly demoted and re-promoted dc01 but I still cannot get automatic replication to work: root at dc00 ~]# samba-tool drs showrepl Krynn\DC00 DSA Options: 0x00000001 DSA

how to generate response variables using simple regression
Hello, I have weight and wing length data of 5 kinds of birds (B1 to B5). Weight data (predictor) and wing data (response) were used to generated a simple regression. (using lm) Now some weight data are found but without wing data (B6, B7). I want to use the generated simple regression to produce wing data of B6 and B7 by their weight data. Please kindly advise R code to carry it out. Thank you.
