DNS backend SAMBA_INTERNAL name resolution through VPN
Hi,
My problem is about DNS names resolution in case there are two DNS servers
separated by a VPN and one DNS domain name.
Context: two Samba AD DC on each side of the VPN, one forest, one domain,
one site, two subnets.
Note that this target configuration is not yet operational since I'm trying
to make the DSN names resolution work first through the VPN.
The DNS servers are Samba internal

sambaUserWorkstations (with LDAP) not working with Groups of Computers ?
Hi,
I'm trying to use the sambaUserWorkstations option to allow users to log
on certain computers only. This option looks great... In fact it looks
now a lot better than the 'ldap filter' one than was deprecated with
samba 3.0.20...
The fact is, if the sambaUserWorkstations option works well with machine
names, it doesn't seem to work when specifying groups of machines.

Really small Linux and NAS
I have a really nice, old Libretto 110. Only 64Mb memory.
I want to put Linux on it and have a network monitoring system and a
traveling NAS.
But all of the NASs have seemed to have grown beyond their original 64Mb
size (FreeNAS now needs 128Mb).
Only thing I have found is:

One DC cannot authenticate off of another DC
Thank you, Louis, for your reply.
By simply asking me to provide outputs of the aforementioned files, I found the cause of my first problem (auth failing). It was my /etc/hosts file on dc1.
All of them should look like this, and indeed DC2 and DC3's *did* look like this:
# cat /etc/hosts

DLZ Backend DNS Hosed
I've been working on this problem for a few hours. Here are some updates:
Many of the domains I listed are duplicates of domains managed by other DNS servers on my network. There was no point in having them in Samba AD, so I deleted the zones in Windows DNS Manager and created slaves in my named.conf.local folder, so that they'd pull the records from my authoritative BIND DNS server,

One DC cannot authenticate off of another DC
Hello Samba Friends,
I have a single DC (we'll call it, "DC1") that simply will not take my password when I run this command:?
#samba-tool ldapcmp ldap://dc2 ldap://dc3 -Uadministrator?
Or this command:?
#samba-tool ldapcmp ldap://dc1 ldap://dc2 -Uadministrator?
I basically get this:?

MMC issue
Hi
I have a strange problem with Shared folders in MMC. While I try to connect
to linux machine and list Open files or Sessions I got a message "You do not
have permission to view the list of sessions from Windows clients".
The problem exists only if I try to connect to linux machines (Windows
Server is ok),
and only for Administrator account. From other accounts with Administrator

Windows 2008R2 AD, kerberos, NFSv4
Hi,
I'm trying to set up NFSv4 on two boxes (centos 5.5) and have it
authenticate against our Windows 2008R2 AD server acting as the KDC.
(samba/winbind is running ok with "idmap config MYCOMPANY: backend = rid"
so we have identical ids across the servers.)
I can mount my test directory fine via NFSv4 *without* the sec=krb5 option.
However, once I put the sec=krb5 option in,

Samba and LDAP Base DN
Right now, I have all of my Samba stuff under ou=corp,dc=mycompany,dc=com. I
have it this way because there used to also be ou=furn,dc=mycompany,dc=com
with a different domain. Now that I only have one domain, I would like to
move everything to dc=mycompany,dc=com. So I copy all of the subentries of
ou=corp (ou=computers, ou=people, ou=grooups, and the sambaDomainName
entries) to

DLZ Backend DNS Hosed
Louis,
I appreciate your efforts with my predicament. I'm very sorry to say that your advice hasn't gotten me to a solution. After updating my /etc/network/interfaces to put my localhost IP address first (192.168.3.201, for example), saving, restarting services, rebooting, running "samba_upgradedns --dns-backend=BIND9_DLZ", saving, rebooting, etc., I still cannot add, edit or

DLZ Backend DNS Hosed
Hello,
I'm in trouble here with what appears to be a total meltdown of my DNS on my Domain Controllers.
I only have two DCs right now and I cannot resolve anything on either of them. I am on Ubuntu 16.04 with a compiled version of Samba 4.10.4.
I also have a compiled version of BIND 9.10.3-P4-Ubuntu <id:ebd72b3>
