Hey Roland, Since my last e-mail, I went to sleep and left the thing running. It's a production server (from "9 to 5") and for the last hours it has been working flawlessly. I'm beginning to think it's not really "random". Not really sure it's a bug; it seems to happen when I check it with wbinfo (the log I sent was a good example). But not always. Weird. 1)

On another clean install (with all updates) of Ubuntu Server 16.04.3, trying your line of dependencies fails: Package libgpgme-dev is not available, but is referred to by another package. I went back and re-installed on a clean VM of Ubuntu Server 16.04.3 and built Samba 4.7.4 with default configuration and it works just fine to change expired passwords at login. I should have tested this default configuration a while back. I was trying to use MIT Kerberos instead of Hemidal and had followed all the directions on this link:

Good Morning, Ive been trying to test Samba AD on Ubuntu 18.04 using samba version 4.8.0  The DC seems to be working fine all tests have passed.  I was able to connect Win7 RSAT, a Ubuntu workstation and a File server.  My problem is the file server will not give response to 'sudo getent passwd' with or with out username or DOMAIN\username. Everything else works as far as I can tell.
