winbind and white spaces on user/group names
Hi Samba Folks, we use Ubuntu 16.04 LTS with Samba 4.3.11 (from distribution). Our ADS is Windows 2008 R2. We want to use Linux as a squid proxy with domain auth (SSO). Problem is, that most of the usernames have a white space and it seems that winbind wont handle it. I get this on my cache log with /usr/lib/squid/ext_wbinfo_group_acl (wbinfo_group.pl) script. Got max Internet-Access from

Samba and ActiveDirectory authentication
Hi all I'm interesting in using Samba shares with Microsoft AD in following way: I would like to set up my shares on Samba 3.6.3, authenticate Windows users via ActiveDirectory and have users/groups access to those shares configured in ActiveDirectory (not in smb.conf). Is that possible? I did fair amount of research but I could not find enough information or tutorial how to do it. Do I need

Technical questions on AD and NT4
Could someone show me differences in both groups and users between a full NT4 LDAP schema and a full ActiveDirectory LDAP schema? Is ActiveDirectory fully retrocompatible with NT4? There are plans for supporting again an OpenLDAP backend when LDAPcon objectives will be achieved? https://ldapcon.org/2019/wp-content/events/presentations/ni_samba_backend.pdf Why an user in old NT4 schema looks like
