LDAP issue, access denied adding machine to domain, and LDAP user can't make unix-login on the box.
Hi,
I have a LDAP backend for my Samba 3.0.2, and everything seems to work
except adding XP machines to the domain, and unix logins with a ldap client.
Since this mail is very long, I have created a small index, so you don't
get exhaustet in the middle of all the logs... ;)

Unix attributes
Hello,
I have just started to experiment with Samba4 as an AD.
All together I have 3 sambas DCs in 3 locations.
In my SMB. CONF stands the following entry: idmap_ldb:use rfc2307 = yes
If I provide new users or groups, I do this about RSAT of a Windows Server 2008 R2. This Windows Server is only normal Domainmember.
I have problems with the care of the Unix attributes:

database got corrupted, users could not login
I'm running Samba with LDAP on SuSE. Users had trouble logging in - finally
I just ran db_recover & restarted ldap and samba. It looks like the LDAP
database got corrupted somehow because samba couldn't get the LDAP data.
Also I created accounts with smbldap-useradd -m -a -B 1 username. Some of
the users were just using the same password samba seemed to kick them out. I

smbldap- only user root can login to windows.
After getting samba, ldap and smbtools setup and joining machines to the domain
successfully, the only user that can login to the win2k boxes is the user
root created initially by the smbldap scripts. Any other user comes up with
a bad username and password message in windows.
Any of the users I've tried to login to the windows box can login to other

Join Samba to a Windows AD 'WERR_DS_NO_CROSSREF_FOR_NC'
Hello everybody,
Thank you very much for your continued support.
Unfortunately, I think that I will not get on with Samba in the situation. It is tried a lot and I come from one problem to the next.
That's why I commissioned the Finazellen funds for Windows licenses for all sites today.
Thus, I will run the Complete AD future on a pure Windows basis.
Thank you for your help
Best wishes

ldapsam:trusted = yes : trouble getting it to work
I have been trying for a while now to enable set the parameter ?ldapsam:trusted? to ?yes? in smb.conf but as soon as I enable it, users cannot access shares anymore. I am trying to enable this because the users are member of a lot of groups and I want to take the stress off the ldap server. I have searched the lists for previous posts with the same problem and I tried to figure out if it has been

setup LDAP auth against my working samba4 AD.
Simplistically, I'm trying initially to SSH into my AD server (working)

I've tried method #1 from

Samba 3.0.22-11 as PDC with openLDAP 2.3.19 => Problem with Shares
Hi there!
To set up a samba PDC with openLDAP on my openSUSE 10.1 x86_64 I followed
this howto: http://en.opensuse.org/Howto_setup_SUSE_10.1_as_Samba_PDC
Every service seems to be running now but now I'm stuck. I was able to join
a clean Windows XP Pro test machine to my Domain and I'm able to log on as
normal LDAP user. The home-share is mounted and even a login script

Can't login
Friends,
I am having a very strange problem that I can't debug. Please help.
I am using ldapsam which was working fine last night. Today without
having done anything, I cannot login.
"pdbedit -Lv" lists all the users
"passwd user" changes the password in openldap -- sometimes the user is
not found
Here's the message from samba pc-client.log

I still cannot connect to domain with the same error. I'm attaching my

Samba-LDAP:Ldap call each time you open a text file?
Hello,
When I open a text file on a Samba fileserver using LDAP for
authentication, Samba always makes these LDAP calls (see below). The user
has been authenticated so why does Samba still makes these LDAP connections?
Any ideas?
/var/log/ldap.log when opening a text file.

LDAP + Samba4(AD) + SSH
Hello,
I want my domain users to be able to connect to our linux servers using
their AD username through LDAP.
I am using nslcd and pam_ldap to do so, but I am having some hard time
trying to figure out why the GID is not working properly.
# getent passwd Guilherme
Guilherme:*:10000:*513*:Guilherme:/home/Guilherme:/bin/bash
# getent group|grep 513
# id Guilherme
uid=10000(Guilherme) gid=513

LDAP + Samba4(AD) + SSH
Hey,
By "through LDAP" I meant that our linux servers would look for the users
using pam_ldap.
Anyway, I was able to "fix" this by mapping gidNumber to gidNumber instead
of primaryGroupID on nslcd.conf.
$ id
uid=10000(Guilherme) gid=10001(it) grupos=10001(it)

classic upgrade with rfc2307bis
We are in the process of testing an upgrade of our NT-style domain on samba 3.6 and ldap backend to
an AD on samba 4.4. The classic upgrade works fine so far the only problem we have is that all our
groups are migrated without members. I think this is because we use rfc2307bis in our schema which
uses "uniqueMember" instead of "memberUid" to link groups to users. Is there an
