Changing expired Samba AD password during Windows login
I went back and re-installed on a clean VM of Ubuntu Server 16.04.3 and built Samba 4.7.4 with default configuration and it works just fine to change expired passwords at login. I should have tested this default configuration a while back. I was trying to use MIT Kerberos instead of Hemidal and had followed all the directions on this link:

winbind service panics "randomly"
Hey Roland, Since my last e-mail, I went to sleep and left the thing running. It's a production server (from "9 to 5") and for the last hours it has been working flawlessly. I'm beginning to think it's not really "random". Not really sure it's a bug; it seems to happen when I check it with wbinfo (the log I sent was a good example). But not always. Weird. 1)

Attempts to Set Max Password Age in Samba Tool Fails
Hello! I am on Samba 4.10.0, Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS. I recently reset a password and found that my password expiration had somehow gotten set to 400 days. I went to one of my DCs and ran the following command: # samba-tool domain passwordsettings show Password informations for domain 'DC=samdom,DC=mydomain,DC=com' Password complexity: on Store plaintext passwords: off Password history

Problem to join Samba 4 DC an existing Windows AD
Hai Marcio, ? I've checked the script output, that looks good. ? Just two small comments, - The hosts file, if your resolving is correctly working then you could remove the other DC's and FS from it, but it does not hurt is you keep it as is. - As long your are sure the DNS servers are ok and all needed zones are in these "proxy?dns" server. that should be fine also. ??? Required to Build Samba
The wiki: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Package_Dependencies_Required_to_Build_Samba Debian / Ubuntu These 2 packages are not available for 18.04 but are for 16.04 python-gpgme python3-gpgme Does this mean you can't build on 18.04? I assume so. I assume this is okay: Note, selecting 'perl-modules-5.26' instead of 'perl-modules' -Barry Adkins

Is [print$] still avaiable in samba V4.6.7?
Hi, I haven't see any stuff with [print$] section from `man smb.conf` of samba v4.6.7, is this section still available for drivers auto-installation for windows ? I know it is usable from some out-of-date tutorial of old samba. But I don't figure out How-TO in the latest one. Thanks, -hongquan

ImportError: No module named 'dns'
After updating my samba version to 4.10.3 (from a self-compiled 4.10.2 version) on a DC running on Debian Stretch, I notice errors in the logs when samba_dnsupdate is run. Manually running it produces: root at debian-vb:~# samba_dnsupdate --verbose Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/local/samba/sbin/samba_dnsupdate", line 56, in <module> import dns.resolver

Upgrading from Debian Stretch to Buster, Van Belle package
Ah, ok, apt-get remove libldb1 ldb-tools Then try again : apt install samba winbind acl The replacement of libldb1 to libldb2 is missing something. I'll have a look at that. Unable to join Windows 2008 R2 server DC to Samba DC
I’m unable to successfully join a Windows 2008 R2 server DC to my Samba4 domain. I’ve followed the steps on the wiki of joining a Server 2008 R2 DC to a Samba domain. After I reboot the domain controller, I receive a blue screen in regards to a corrupt AD database. I’ve tried Samba v4.6.7 and Samba 4.9.0pre1. Prior to the reboot, I see the following three events on the Windows DC: ----- Attempt
