AD Auth Trusted Domain issues
I have been killing myself on this issue over the last 2 weeks. I have
setup pam AD authentication using winbind on our companies email
servers. That part is currently working. I have been trying to add an
existing "Trusted" child domain and allow authentication from that
domain as well. I am part of the way there, but not quite to the
functional point as of yet. Our primary domain

[OT] Oldest Telephone
While the rest of you were chatting about the smallest * server, I was
sitting her staring at the telephone hanging on the wall.
It is a Western Electric set in a varnished pine box with an earpiece
you hold in your left hand and a mouthpiece attached to the box. You
crank the magneto with your right hand to signal the switchboard.
The two dry cells inside are dated 1935, and I'm

Well other than the name, it does not have anything in common with DVD
because IIRC it's a Magneto Optical drive ... totally different Tech.

Replication issues samba 4.10.11-SerNet-Debian-10.buster
Hello,
We added a new samba DC with 4.10.11-SerNet-Debian-10.buster? to our
existing 5 ones and can?t obtain replication.
Comparing configuration with other functioning DCs did not show any
relevant difference.
The only difference during the configuration procedure was that DNS PTR
and A records were added after joining the domain and not before.
The sernet-samba-ad service is running but

CRASH: mail-cache-fields.c crash - new info, hacked 'solution'
I'm baaaaack. :-)
I've managed to implement a suggestion from Hans Morten Kind from this
list that seems to have stopped the crashing. However, my hack -
commenting out a call to i_unreached() - makes me queasy because I have
no idea of the ramifications of it (I don't habitually code, myself).
So I wanted to lay it out for y'all in case this is a problem that you

winbind, sIDHistory and getpwuid problems
In our native Win2K3 AD domain, several AD accounts have a sIDHistory
that carry SIDs from before the AD domain migration in addition to the
"primary" objectSID.
Samba 3.0.21c winbindd (with idmap OpenLDAP backend) on domain member
servers (running SuSE 9.3 Pro) allocates multiple uids for these SIDs
with the same (AD) user name:
Primary SID:

[patch] ssh.c load_public_identity_files calls getpwuid twice without copy
Hi,
getpwuid is called as seen in the patch, and is then called again
indirectly by tilde_expand_filename without first copying off the
results from the first call.
This is fatal on MacOSX (and it would seem it should be fatal elsewhere, too).
Please CC me in replies; I'm not a subscriber.

Error 'getpwuid(3000007) failed' is again.
Hi all.
Recently I built from tarball sources 436 version of Samba4 at Ubuntu 14.04
x64.
There wasn' t any Samba at the server before.
All started successfully, but in 'standalone server' mode, while accessing
to shares, error 'getpwuid(3000007) failed' is appeared as was here
https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2014-May/181010.html.
And it is impossible to open it even

Error 'getpwuid(3000007) failed' is again. (Rowland penny)
I provisioned by 2 way:
- as standalone server and in the way I launched nmbd, smbd and winbind =>
error "getpwuid(3000007) failed" is got and shares are inaccessible;
- as DC and in the way I launched samba daemon, which started in its own
smbd and winbindd daemons => there wasn' t theerror and shares are
available.
