win 10 client on linux pdc, join domain ok, logon script fails to run
Hi,
On windoze 10, I can only access "//hostname", i.e. "//DEV2" (net bios
name)
How do I tell it to access samba as "//DEV2.COMPO" (latter is domain?)
I have looked at entries in lmhosts.sam - is this correct?
DNS is not on linux box, google 8.8.8.8 through my router.
Also, \\dev2\netlogon is accessible but \\dev2\sysvol is not. should I copy
the smb.conf

Thanks for your response. OK I get the AD DC part about sysvol and the fact
I'm running a pdc.
Can I confirm what you mean as domain?
so if i get:
#hostname
dev2.test
should my smb.conf have workgroup = test
it does not match at present.

win 10 client on linux pdc, join domain ok, logon script fails to run
hi,
I have samba 4.3.9-Ubuntu setup. followed a guide to get a windows 10 client to join my pdc OK but cannot get netlogon scripts to run. I can see them in the share \\<server>\netlogon and I can manually run them from windows shell or by double clicking them. They just won't run by themselves.
I have done the registry pokes + policy changes as:

win 10 client on linux pdc, join domain ok, logon script fails to run
Hi,
Just in case someone looks at this thread, I've fix my samba win10 issue
with PDC. Here's what I did:
To over come perhaps a DNS issue where complete name of server including top
level domain name could not access box as \\hostname.tld\<share>
I change the hostname to match netbios name.
#cat dev2 > /etc/hostname
#reboot
edited hosts file to make sure old name was

Samba as PDC with XP Client - Logon requires reboot - Help Please
Hi, I'm running the latest version of Samba with a tdbsam backend,
configured not to use roaming profiles. Two different XP clients (SP2)
are joined to the domain ok but users can only logon by rebooting before
entering their logon details. When users logoff and try to logon again
(or logon as a different user on the same machine) they get the standard
message 'windows cannot connect to

Can't get logon script option working with PDC
Environment: Samba 3.0.6 on FC2 as PDC (replacing an NT 4.0 PDC)
Windows 98/ME/2K/XP desktops on the domain
I can't seem to get "logon script" to function. My [netlogon] share
exists, the batch file is there, and if I manually run
\\MAINSERVER\netlogon\logon.bat, it runs just fine. However, it doesn't
run on login.
I set "log level" to 3 and poked through the

client doesn't read logon script
Everything's configured fine - but since I made some updates, the client-PC don't ever attempt to read the logon script,
although they get the HOME-share mapped to drive H:. When I log on as admin, I am able to start the logon script manually
and it works fine.
Where is the bug??

Logon script will not run in Samba 3.3.4 PDC
Greetings, all.
I have a Samba 3.3.4 PDC up and running on my small home network,
having migrated from an older 2.2.8 configuration. My XP Pro and Vista
clients have remained as members of this migrated domain, logging with
no problem. Client logins have worked precisely as expected. All seems
to be happy - with one exception.
My only problem, which I've spent the last two or three days

Domain logon problem with w2k client on a Samba-3 PDC
I'm having problems configuring Samba in order to have w2000Pro being able
to log into the PDC that I have configured on a Centos4 Linux using samba
3.0.10-1.4E.
On a Windows98 client. It logs in OK and executes the login script also.
Here's the smb.conf:

PDC and logon script - try 2
Hi everyone,
I have a question about the logon script command. I've read and read and
read the man page for smb.conf. In essence, I've duplicated the settings on
the PDC how-to document to create a PDC with a logon script. However, when
I log in, the scrips doesn't run. The only thing I don't have enabled, like
the how-to, is roaming profiles. I'll include my smb.conf for

Hello!
I have Samba with LDAP password backend.

-Logging to domain with username & passwd doesn't work
When using smbpasswd -file as backend it works
After 3 days of googling I'm

Logon script
Hello,
I am having a little problem with executing logon scripts on Win95 clients,
logging into Samba Netlogon service.
When a user logges in, a MS-DOS prompt shows up and quicky disappears. Then
I get
"Please Wait While your logon script executes". It hangs at that point. A
user has to hit cancel to start his win95 session.
I have done the logon script in MS-DOS editor. I have the

How to join join Ubuntu desktop to AD
Just to confirm that it can be done, I followed the wiki and joined my
Ubuntu 16.04 desktop to a Samba AD using the Ubuntu distro provided
packages. I'm not sure if it's relevant, but the Samba AD DCs are also
running Ubuntu 16.04 with the distro provided packages.

odd behavior of browser()
Hi everyone,
I normally include a call to browser() as I'm working out the kinks in my
scripts, and I am always able to step through each line by hitting
"Return", but for some reason, in the scripts I'm working on now, hitting
"Return" seems to cause execution of *all* the lines in my script. I've
restarted R several times in case it was stuck in a bad state for
