Is there some option on the slave to set the frequency of the AXFR? Say every hour? On 09/07/2015 03:45 PM, Lars Hanke wrote: > Hi Robert, > > yes it does work. How to update the root hints for bind DLZ
It looks like the original intention in our code was to be able to add/modify records with the "." zone. Trying it, there seems to be other issues with using it. I'm not entirely sure if this alias is valid against Windows or for which calls. I just hacked a patch (see attached) to see if I could add or modify another name server. samba-tool dns add $DC_SERVER . @ NS testing

Hi Robert, yes it does work. But the DLZ bind will not notify any slaves, when the repository changes. This can be painful, especially for longer TTL values. Regards, - lars. How to update the root hints for bind DLZ
Hi, we are running a Samba AD on UCS 4.2, which comes with Samba 4.6.1. The DNS server (192.168.0.200) is operated by bind with the samba DLZ module. It also hosts several zones outside of samba. Every couple of hours, I get messages like these on the server: Jun 5 23:04:58 ucsdc1 daemon:[warning] checkhints: h.root-servers.net/A (198.97.190.53) missing from hints Jun 5 23:04:58 ucsdc1

Samba + BIND9 DLZ. DNS dosen't resolve FQDN, only short hostname
Thank You, Luis, Rowland, for the initial hints. I checked them all. As of system, it is Debian Strech, Bind 9.10.3, Samba 4.5.12 (I know it is old, but is native for distribution, and should work in such simple setup I suppose). I used this howto: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_Samba_as_an_Active_Directory_Domain_Controller As of hosts.conf, there are only localhost and

using samba with bind dlz
I found the file /usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/samba/provision/sambadns.py I was looking through it and seemed to come across the area where I am having problems. In the create_dns_dir function I wanted to see what paths.dns had and what dns_dir where getting set to. so I did a simple print and found paths.dir is set to /var/lib/samba/private/dns/fedora.methanemaker.mooo.com.zone and

Unable to Set TTL for Name Server Record
I noticed when Samba initially created a NS it gave it a ttl=900. If I delete this record from my zone and create a new one. It gives the NS a ttl=0. Attempting to set using Microsoft DNS tools does not take. Can this be done any other way? Using samba-tool? Thanks. using samba with bind dlz
Bind-9.11 is installed. How do you configure it? Does it need anything special in the config for samba to build the ...samba.../named.conf file that I should be able to include in my /etc/named.conf afterwards? My guess is that some directory is missing. But if I start fresh and configure samba with the internal dns it gets all the way through it's configuration with no errors. I've
