login from XP
Hello, I'm having a problem logging in to the Samba domain from an XP machine. The machine is added to the domain but after reboot I can't login. I've done the signorseal registry hack but I'm still not able to login. The error I get when logging in is this: "Windows cannot connect to the domain, either because the domain controller is down or otherwise unavailable, or

Win2k Domain logons
Hi everyone. I just got a copy of Win2k in and have been messing with it. Have a question, and have searched the archives for the answer, but didn't find it. Can Win2k domain logon to a pre-3.0.0 samba server? Or di I need to get TNG running? I can get NT4.0 boxes to authenticate and login fine (Samba pre-3.0.0), but Win2k keeps complaining: "The following error occurred validating

current master browser = UNKNOWN / failing WINS test #1 on 3.0.23c
I am having trouble with one of my samba PDC's. It does not recognize itself as the domain master browser even though it is set to be so. I can not add machines to this domain and I suspect this is why. Has anybody seen this or know what causes it? Notice this: DOMAIN_ALBANY(3) current master browser = ALBANY_PDC DOMAIN_NYC(2) current master browser = NYC_PDC

Can join domain; can't logon
I had a problem similar to my current one a week or so ago, and I was encouraged to upgrade from Samba 2.2.9 to 3.0.7, which I did. Now that I've completed that nightmare, the problem I initially set out to fix is still there, just different. Namely: I am trying to set up Samba 3.0.7 on a SuSE 9.1 box as an LDAP PDC whose only job will be authentication. Our LDAP server is on a separate

Hi people, sorry for the previous HTML stuff, I hope this time it's plain text. Here's my problem: I'm not sure if this is a samba/solaris problem or a Win98 problem and I'll tell you why. I have a Solaris 8 server running samba 2.2.2, a linux/samba 2.0.7 box and a couple Win 98 boxes. When I did a complete restore of my Win98 box from tape, I could no longer access the Solaris

Installed Samba 3.0.10 via 'pkgadd' on Solaris 2.6 - previously running Samba 2.2.8. It starts up and SWAT confirms that it is running and I am using the same smb.conf but I am unable to connect to a share via PC. Message "\\s080 is not accessible. Samba 2.0.6-3 (productive env.) slow down dramticaly
Hello together, since today morning I have an massive performance issue with samba 2.0.6-3 (Debian - Testing-Tree) in my samba production environment. Samba responds very slowly within the logon process (2-3 Minutes for each line in the netlogon.cmd). Later during normal operations opening from files works very slowly and often breaks connection. There is no cpu or memory load on the system.

Continued: Join domain OK, but domain not found after reboot
Hi, all: To recap: I can successfully get my WinXP box to join the domain (WHITEROCK), but after rebooting, when I try to log on: "The system cannot log you on now because the domain WHITEROCK is not available." I get this even when using the user 'root' - and this user was the one to successfully join the domain WHITEROCK!! To rule out any stale junk, my WinXP is a
