DC won't update Windows 10 PTR records
Our Domain Controller is running Samba 4.6.2 We have both Windows 7 & 10 on our network. All of the Windows 7 workstations seem to be updating their reverse PTR records just fine, but the Windows 10 workstations seem to always fail. Here are the named logs from the DC: 23-May-2018 13:53:08.965 update-security: error: client 192.168.254.210#60093: update 'tipping.lan/IN' denied

smbstatus issue in v4.1
Sorry I should have said in my original post, this server is a NT4 style domain server. Looking in /var/log/samba I see log files with the machine names in the file names, so samba definitely knows the machine names. smbstatus issue in v4.1
Mark, I think (and I may be wrong here, so if a dev sees this correct me) smbstatus works with sockets. With that being said, I don't think it has been updated to work with samba as an AD DC, but should still work fine on other configurations (member server, legacy DC, etc). If you are running with a non ad dc config, let us know, there may be a bug there. Ricky On Wed, Dec 17, 2014 at 5:12

space problem
CentOS 6.2. I have a 2TB drive, one partition, which is used for online backups. It filled up the other day. I moved a couple of b/u directories off it, and deleted the originals, which should have given me 42G free. I also reduced the reserved blocks by 1/3rd. I've just finished an fsck, which it needed anyway, and in which there was a problem in an HTREE directory node. df *still* tells me

I changed the path of my share : [homes] comment = User Home Folder path = /home/%U read only = no follow symlinks = yes wide links = yes browseable = no hide files = /desktop.ini/$RECYCLE.BIN/ I need Wide Links because in the share there are symbolics links to outside the share. Anyway, I still get the same error with all

Domain member (2k8R2) server, problem mapping Kerberos/NSS users
Hi list, I'm trying to set up a simple fileserver (Samba 4.1.6 on Ubuntu 14.04) as domain member, which delegates user authentication to AD (2k8R2) via Kerberos/NSS ? SSSD without using Winbind. I have SSSD up and running and things like getent passwd some-domain-user getent group some-domain-group chown some-domain-user:some-domain-group /tmp/foobar work just fine and show the

Gluster volume not mounted
Good morning Gluster users, I'm very new to the Gluster file system. My apologies if this is not the correct way to seek assistance. However, I would appreciate some insight into understanding the issue I have. I have three nodes running two volumes, engine and data. The third node is the arbiter on both volumes. Both volumes were operation fine but one of the volumes, data, no longer

Automatic creation of local users
I’ve actually found a solution to my problem, but I wanted to post it here, since someone else might have the problem in the future, and I think it would be nice if I could spare them the week of Googling I needed. Basically, I have an AD member server, running Samba 4.2.10 (on Centos 7.2.1511). Here’s my smb.conf: [global]         workgroup = SUBDOMAIN         server string = Samba Server

User is invalid on this system
Hello all. We are running Samba 3.6.6 on a Debian 6.0.6 server. We made the upgrade from 3.6.5 to 3.6.5 about a week ago and ever since we have lost the ability to map Samba shares from our Windows XP SP3 and Windows 7 clients: Here's an example from my workstation (logging verbosity set at 10): [2012/11/29 15:23:58.120087, 3] smbd/process.c:1467(switch_message) switch message

I always end up with
