Samba46 Listen queue overflow in FreeBSD 11.1
There are a number of rather low listen() queue limits in Samba which we also ran into on our pretty busy (around 300-500 users/server) Samba servers, also on FreeBSD 11.1 (six servers with 256GB RAM, 2x10Gbit ethernet, 140TB of storage). Please find enclosed a patch we use to up the limits (quite a bit). The patch makes it possible to control the queue limit via the config file using a “socket

Samba46 Listen queue overflow in FreeBSD 11.1
Ah. Anyway, the patch is pretty straight forward (and you could probably write a better one :-). But anyway, here’s a link to a web page where it can be downloaded from in case someone else needs it / wants to have a look: https://people.ifm.liu.se/peter/patches/samba/ <https://people.ifm.liu.se/peter/patches/samba/> (socket_listen_backlog.patch) It’s based on Samba 4.7.3 currently. —

samba4 ldap high load and port queue overflow
Hi all. I have samba 4.2.3 on freebsd 10.1 server. There are three DC and about 350 PC on domain. DCs have 3 CPU and 3GB RAM. Some servers with services like apache, exim, dovecot, etc use samba4 ldap (port 389) for user authentication. Some times ago after adding some services to use ldap I found, that samba4 cannot serve all ldap requests. Every 10-30 minutes I see in DCs logs: dc1 kernel:

win32 11.1-rc2 ferret gem available?
Hello! I am developing a rails application in a test environment on Windows XP and recently upgraded to InstantRails 1.5. During the upgrade process, I went to install the latest ferret gem and realized that the latest gem compiled for Windows was 10.9. We upgraded our production environment (Ubuntu) to 11.1-rc2 successfully, but wanted to find out if we were going to run into any problems

Installing R on Suse 11.1 , cannot figure it out
Can't figure out how the install works, it is certainly not automatic. Also , the "Install" option on the R web site for Suse 11.1 does not work. And the install software native to Suse, cannot figure out. Does Suse have more problems installing software than Fedora or Ubuntu? Or is this a hassle for any Linux distro? And Windows? OpenSUSE 11.1 with OpenLDAP => some surprises (ldap.conf, nss-ldap.conf, nsswitch.conf)
Hi, this has nothing directly to do with samba, but there might be some people who try to use samba with (Open)LDAP on OpenSUSE 11.1 like me. Between 10.2 and 11.1 the nss_ldap configuration has changed a bit. The file which configures the access to ldap is now /etc/nss-ldap.conf and seems to have the identical layout as the former /etc/ldap.conf. Also needed is the "nslcd"

Upgrade 10.4 -> 11.1 making problems
Hi, just upgraded some gluster servers from version 10.4 to version 11.1. Debian bullseye & bookworm. When only installing the packages: good, servers, volumes etc. work as expected. But one needs to test if the systems work after a daemon and/or server restart. Well, did a reboot, and after that the rebooted/restarted system is "out". Log message from working node: [2024-01-15

Compiling old wine versions in opensuse 11.1
dear forum I am hoping somebody can help me compile relatively old versions of wine (~0.9.10 -> 0.9.23) on openSuSE 11.1. I have a dual boot of opensuse 11.1 x86_32 and x86_64 and have had no luck with either. I have successfully compiled wine 1.1.11 but have have the same failure with 0.9.10 and 0.9.20.
