Start script not working when run via Rake
Hi there I''m using the latest release (r300) and ''script/backgroundrb start'' works perfectly when executed on the server, but when put inside a Rake task, it doesn''t launch the worker processes. The Rake task is as follows: task :start_backgroundrb do run "cd #{current_path} && ./script/backgroundrb start" end When I run this task, the

does backgroundrb server need rails environment?
Hi everyone, I noticed that script/backgroudrb requires config/environment which causes the backgroundrb server as well as the log worker to ''bloat'' to 35MB each. I am kind of sensitive to memory issues, so I patched the code and essentially moved the require of environment from script/backgroundrb to the meta_worker. Everything seems good and now both backgroundrb server and

backgroundrb script crashing on startup
Everything works fine on my development box (Ubuntu 7.10, Ruby 1.8.6) but on my server (Fedora Core 6, Ruby 1.8.5) when I run script/backgroundrb start, the process fails to start. This is with Rails 2.0.2 frozen in the app, and I have the most recent version of the plugin (r297). Is Ruby 1.8.6 a requirement for backgroundrb now? I can''t figure any other reason it would fail...

rendering templates from an engine''s app dir
Hi there, i have a rails application which use the active_rbac engine for user and access control. How can I use the original login, etc. forms which were provided with the engine as partials in my application? I''ve tried all of the below mentioned approaches and it seems so that I cannot reach the templates provided under the [RAILS_HOME]/vendor/plugins/active_rbac/app/views directory.

Starting script/ferret_start problems
Hi - I have a fresh install of OSX, Rails, Ruby, Ferret, AAF etc ... Everything is working fine, I can start mongrel, I can start backgroundrb, but Ferret Drb ... doesn''t want to work. RAILS_ENV=development script/ferret_start Gives me: env: script/runner: Permission denied Is there a way I can debug this to figure out what is going on - or is there another way to start Ferret Drb?

attachment_fu, aws-s3 and backgroundrb
Hi, I''m using attachment_fu to store files on amazon s3. A background job is currently performing the upload and I''m having a strange issue where the very first file uploaded/created (attachment_fu uploads when creating the object) does not get uploaded. The db information is all all good. The model and attachment model associated with it are saved to the db, but the file is

FastCgi issue
Hi, I know that Apache2 + fastcgi is sometimes difficult to setup, but I was wondering if anyone has come across this error and if yes what did you do to resolve it? In config/environment.rb it states: # See Rails::Configuration for more options See where exactly? I can''t find any docs for it, not at api.rubyonrails.com anyway. Joe -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Calender Script?
I have been trying to get one of the calender javascripts to work with the <%= form.text_field. So when the user pick the date it updates the time fields? (like in normal reservation system where you pick up the date and time from the calender and when user pick the selection it updates the field) but I could not get this to work. Does anyone have got something similar to work? or could

performance lost in using a software raid array with only 1 disk
Is there any performance lost in using a software raid array with only 1 disk? I was wanting to use the mdadm monitoring tools to monitor the machines single disk drive for failures and such. Is there any performance hit for such a setup? Some machines have RAID some machines dont (for me) and I was thinking about a common setup. Also then if I want in the future I can actually just add the

fixtures outside of rails
Is there an easy way to use fixtures outside of a rails app? I''m using activerecord for a project and would love to use fixtures as well, but I haven''t found any info on doing this. I''m hoping it''s something quick and simple someone can explain to me so I don''t have to dig through the rails source :) -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

RoR, Apache 2, FastCGI
I have everything working and I am really excited about learning Ruby and Rails. But whenever I access my different defs in my controller it takes ~ 5 seconds before they are returned. I am working locally so I don''t know what the issue is. System Details: Windows XP Apache 2.0.55 Ruby 1.8.2 Rails 1.0 Seth Buntin Web Resources Coordinator Kentucky Academy of Technology

Apache FastCGI seems single threaded (W2K)
Hi, I have set up Apache 2, FastCGI on W2K. My Rails project seems to run fine. I wanted to test how many FastCGI processes I would need. So I created a new project with 1 controller, that has 1 method : def index s = Time.new while Time.new - 3 < s end render_text "#{s.strftime(''%H:%M:%S'')} - #{Time.new.strftime(''%H:%M:%S'')}" end The

(no subject)
My application has one central database + Rails server and many distributed GUI clients. The remote clients need to read and update different collections of ActiveRecords. They also need to submit fairly demanding calculation + database update requests. Have you designed a similar Ruby application? What did you do? I''ll try to summarize the approachs I''m considering

Lost connection..
Short update: It seems that the workers go into some state in which they do not have a correct Rails environment (or db connection). When they enter this state it goes wrong all the time :( Joost Hietbrink (YelloYello) wrote: > Hi all, > > We''re experiencing some problems with Backgroundrb. > > Why is "# master_reactor_instance.result_hash = {}" commented in
