Separate ISC-DHCP server updating BIND DNS
I am attempting to set up a separate ISC-DHCP server to administer IP addresses for a new subnet and dynamically update the main BIND9 DNS server on DC1. I'm using the guide linked below but it appears to be for installing the DHCP server directly on the domain controller. Is there any documentation available for updating BIND9 from a completely separate machine with ISC-DHCP installed? It

Which DNS to use for DHCP hostname/IP updates from non-AD & AD nodes?
I am considering which DNS implementation and cannot determine exactly when someone should use the Bind9 manner with BIND9_DLZ Module. For my purposes, I will have AD and non-AD nodes on the network using either DHCP or static IP addresses. Some will be Windows & Linux clients joined on the Samba AD domain for logins. Some will be Windows & Linux clients that are standalone using

Windows 10 does not register dns in samba 4.3.4
Are your running more domains on this samba server, this is the primary domain? tplk.loc ? The settings below looks good, you can try setting ipv4 preffered over ipv6 ( or disable ipv6) You can try also it with a fixed primary dns suffix. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc786695(v=ws.10).aspx 1.Open the Network Connections folder and view available connections. 2.Right-click the

Samba AD /dns /dhcp
Hi there, thanks for your reply. Probably I should add that: a) I'm running Centos7 on the RPi3. b) Compiled and installed samba 4.7.2 from source (packaged AD samba not available for CentOS) c) I haven't managed an AD before this thing landed in my lap, much less a Samba AD :) On 30 November 2017 at 15:45, Rowland Penny via samba <samba at lists.samba.org > wrote: > > >

Can PXElinux be used to dynamically pass DHCP option 252 to a PXE client?
All (and hpa in particular), I know that the question in the subject line of this message may come across as a bit silly, given that PXElinux is not a DHCP server, but hear me out... Those of you who have been working on PXE-booting Windows PE instances or the new Windows installer images that make use of the Windows Boot Manager and ".wim" files may have come across the general

dhcp lease time hardware in script at dhcpd/Bind/Samba wiki page
There seems to be a slight issue with the instructions at the following wiki page: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configure_DHCP_to_update_DNS_records_with_BIND9 The /usr/local/bin/dhcp-dyndns.sh script seems to use a hardwired value for the lease expiry time of 3600 - independent of whatever is configured in dhcpd.conf. With the examples provided, it should work, as the example dhcpd.conf

Samba AD /dns /dhcp
Hello there. I hope I'm in the right place for some Samba AD advice. I recently added two extra ADs to a setup I inherited. Originally there was a single Samba AD with BIND9_DLS config. DHCP was separate. Subsequently I installed Samba on two Raspberry Pis to act as backup servers. Basically, I followd this set of instructions:

[OT] DHCP auth&auth software
Does anyone know about some free (as in beer, and maybe as in speech) software which would implement authentication and authorization of a user prior to issuing a valid dhcp lease? I imagine the following scenario: someone walks into my office building with a laptop (a colleague, a visitor, a guest, whoever), and hooks up onto the local net (wired or wireless). The server detects an unknown

Opensolaris domU unable to get dhcp lease
I''m running a ubuntu 9.04 64 bit dom0 with kernel 2.6.29.6 and xen 3.4.0. My eth0 is bridged to br0 and to my guest VMs. The dom0 is running a dhcp server on br0 which is able to provide leases to physical machines on eth0, and also to a windows xp domU which is bridged to br0. However my open solaris 2009.6 domU is unable to obtain a dhcp lease. On the opensolaris side I can see this:

IAXy DHCP lease not renewing
Hi, I have an IAXy which *appears* not to renew it's DHCP lease. The DHCP server is a Solaris box running the native Solaris DHCP server. Is there any known DHCP issues I should be aware of? Is there anyway to get the IAXy to log it's DHCP activity? Thanks, Glenn
