LDAP group objects?
Thank you, those links were indeed helpful.
It appears to me that while JumpCloud.com touts it's Samba compatibility
(including "Samba Schema support"), their's is an imperfect implementation.
Because they do not leverage the Samba group objectclass they are hampering
Samba's ability.
The method they've used to implement groups does not allow those groups to

exec: 29: /usr/bin/wine: not found
Hi,
I?ve installed wine on Ubuntu 6.10 64bit using the following guide :
http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=185557
but, when I type winecfg in Terminal I get the following error :
exec: 29: /usr/bin/wine: not found
Dunno if it may help, but here?s a terminal shot of when wine was
getting installed.

Xen 3.4.1-rc7 network problem (vif/tap)
Hi,
I''m now blocked for 2 days on getting the network to work in my domU. Here is
the problem :
The domU refuses to start when a vif is configured. It''s just staying paused
for about 1m40s, then the xm create command line give back with an
"Error: Device 0 (vif) could not be connected. Hotplug scripts not working.",
and the domU is destroyed.
Nothing particular

WebRTC phone
Can anyone recommend a good WebRTC phone to use with Asterisk? I do
not mind if it is commercial or open source. Customers are starting to
ask for web solutions and we need to start testing.

syslinux: localboot error
Hello all,
I'm booting a USB stick (DOS formatted, one 1GB partition) and I'd
like to offer the choice of either continue booting from the USB stick,
or booting from the installed hard disk (Linux ext3). I've asked this
question here previously and Quinn replied saying I should use the
'localboot -1' option which would pass boot to the next device. And so
I did. The BIOS

Gnome wine menu entry gone
Well for a long time now my wine menu entry in gnome has been gone. Most threads I read all say to fine the <deleted> tag in .config/menus/applications.menu but mine doesn't have it.

For the client:
JSSIP and Sipml5.
If you are going to be coding something up yourself I like the JSSIP 0.5.x
javascript interfaces. If you are simply going to use a pre-canned one then
sipml5 works pretty well and remembers your settings in localstorage. I
haven't used any closed source versions since the above works really well
for us.
For the server:

I can share my notes, we authenticate UniFi clients via Freeradius against Samba AD. We also check group membership which you might or might not need:

Hello Tim, Hello samba-people,
is there an uptodate guide for authenticating via freeradius somewhere?
I have some Ubiquiti APs plus a Cloud Key and I want to authenticate
WLAN clients via WPA2-Enterprise instead of a (shared) PSK.
It seems like
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Authenticating_Freeradius_against_Active_Directory
is missing some steps (basic setup of freeradius).
Can you

Hi Alexander,
I'm terribly sorry. We didnt have the "ntlm auth" parameter configured
on the DCs at all. I added it and it just works.
Thanks for your help.
Now I just need to figure out how I can make WLAN-specific LDAP-Group
authentication.
e. g. production WLAN needs LDAP group "wlan_production" and management
WLAN needs the "wlan_management" group.

Hello Alexander,
thanks Alexander for these configuration snippets.
Which version of Samba are you using? Is this on debian bullseye? Is the
FreeRADIUS server installed on a DC or on a Domain Member? (I just
tested the latter).
is "ntlm auth = yes" OK for the DCs and the domain member or does it
have to be "mschapv2-and-ntlmv2-only" for all servers (DCs + Member)? It

Hi Matthias,
we?re using Debian Bullseye with the backports repo. So version is a mixture of
- Samba version 4.17.3-Debian
- Samba version 4.17.7-Debian
We?ve installed it directly on the DC?s as well.
In my opinion using "ntlm auth = yes? should be fine.
Did you try using a simple RADIUS secret? In my experience long secrets or ones containing special characters don?t work very well. I
