DNS crashing when accessing with MS DNS tool on Samba with BIND9 backend
Hi all, I am currently having some problems managing DNS on our Samba servers with bind9 backend. Whenever I try to access the AD domain zone from the MS DNS tool the DNS part crashes and services need to be restarted. After the crash DNS is not working anymore. I get the following in log.samba: [2019/09/20 09:39:10.681745,? 0]

DNS crashing when accessing with MS DNS tool on Samba with BIND9 backend
I would suggest, downgrade to a "release" samba version. Check if it happens again.. 4.10.9-GIT-e3f51924971 < 4.10.9 is not released yet. If is also craches with 4.10.8, then submit a bug in bugzilla. (note: > ? Samba panic when accessing DNS domain entry with RSAT DNS tool
Hi everybody, for some time now I have an issue with our samba/bind9-DLZ setup which became worse lately. I use the RSAT DNS tool to configure DNS records. In the past it sometimes happened, that DNS died when accessing the domain zone. This condition could only be resolved by restarting samba on the affected DC. Unfortunately the situation got worse and configuration/modification of entries

winbind service panics "randomly"
Hi all, on a recently installed samba file server, the winbind service crashes apparently randomly. Every few hours it's necessary to restart the winbind service and then it works for a few more hours. Any ideas are welcome. 1) the environment: 2 debian stretch DC's with round-robind bind+dhcp with dns-update. 1 fileserver also (AD backend) on debian stretch. All on self compiled samba

Samba panic when accessing DNS domain entry with RSAT DNS tool
Hello Daniel, thank you for the fast reply. I am also using Windows 10. I'll setup a temporary Win7 VM to test if this will make any difference. Do you know if this a known issue with RSAT on Windows 10 ? error in sernet samba
Reindl/Harald, What is your first name? Sorry for asking, but always wondered about it. I just wanted to note here that... 1) I have seen this also if samba is upgraded and not restarted. Or 2) if a packages is not upgrade because an extra package is also needed at install. And that should be tested/checked/tried out first and if that all fails, then its needed to contact sernet support.

Is "vfs objects = acl_tdb" allowed?
Hi, I had issues using"vfs objects = acl_xattr" (possibly too old version [Version 4.13.13-Debian] for the needed "acl_xattr:security_acl_name = user.samba" option needed if running in a non-priv container). So I tried "vfs objects = acl_tdb" and found it working. In https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/File_System_Support I found: File systems without xattr support

Dynamic DNS record scavenging support
Hello, according to this: https://gitlab.com/samba-team/samba/merge_requests/26 samba should support DNS record scavenging is this only true for the internal DNS or also BIND? Should this work? I enabled it (dns zone scavenging = yes) to try it out and got this (didn't enable it from the DNS Manager tool as I got the error first): Jul 24 16:39:20 dc1 samba[29071]: [2019/07/24

SIGSEGV with pam_winbind kerberos authentication
Hello, I can't get Kerberos authentication works with my Linux clients. Server : samba 4.1.4 (compiled from source) Client : Debian Wheezy with sernet-samba 4.0.17-8 Without Kerberos authentication, everything works : -> the domain users can log with pam_winbind (with ssh, gdm ....). -> "kinit myuser at MYREALM" works fine. -> "wbinfo -K MYDOM\\myuser" works.

ctdb error after upgrade to 4.12.10
Dear Jeremy, thanks for your reply. I assume I load the the debug symbols by passing something in the [global] section? I now changed back to a fuse_mount to get my colleagues back to work again. Tomorrow at 17 CEST I can add a test share with vfs_glusterfs to test it. Best Bene Am 09.11.20 um 17:55 schrieb Jeremy Allison: > On Mon, Nov 09, 2020 at 04:01:47PM +0100, Benedikt Kale? via

self compiled samba domain member, jessie, pam config
Hi, I installed a debian jessie machine, compiled/installed samba 4.3.1, configured as a domain member server, configured winbind: all working nicely. Great docs on the wiki. (https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_AD_Member_Server) One remaining thing: How do I exactly configure pam_winbind in the setup above? On the wiki I read that debian uses pam-auth-update. That does not seem

winbind pam trouble
Hi, I just upgraded my member (fileserver) server (wheezy) from sernet-4.1 to sernet-4.2, to be ready for tomorrow's badlock outbreak. Under 4.1 we used sssd, and now 4.2 with winbind. Everything seems to be running good: wbinfo (-p, -u, -g, -t) all give the expected results, same for getent (group, passwd, username) File serving works, life is good. :-) Last step: allowing ssh access
