Using MS-DOS client
Hi, all.
I know this is ancient history, but I have a couple of DOS machines that
host older device programming hardware. I've been able to access an older
version of Samba for years without incident. Last weekend I upgraded my
server to Ubuntu 18.04, which provides Samba 4.7.6. Unfortunately, after
hours of frustration I find I'm unable to connect from any of the older
machines.

Upgrading Samba 3 to Samba 4 - Domain Controller unreachable
OK, this is working with the Windows 7 clients now. Looks like it was just
a reboot. Now I have an issue with the Windows 10 clients... I'll open a
new thread about that...

Upgrading Samba 3 to Samba 4 - Domain Controller unreachable
@Sonic
# /etc/init.d/samba restart

[ ok ] Restarting smbd (via systemctl): smbd.service.
[ ok ] Restarting samba-ad-dc (via systemctl): samba-ad-dc.service.
I may try rebooting as well, after trying @penny's fix. But that's what
I've always been doing. When I use systemctl start nmbd smbd I get no
output.

Deploy software in fileserver folder
Which GPO? Computer or User Configuration?
Remember that GPOs need to run as the context of either the computer or the
user. Computers typically do not have access to many folders on a file
server, even as "Everyone". That is why the NETLOGON folder works.
If you're deploying as a USER configuration, then it should run as the
context of the user, meaning the Everyone permission

There wouldn't be a sysvol share on a PDC, or do you mean a DC ?

Upgrading Samba 3 to Samba 4 with Active Directory at many sites
First, background information. We are a large (geographically local)
organization with 50 sites, including our HQ. Each site has a Debian Server
running Samba in NT-Domain Controller mode. Each site is independant of the
next, but are all named <SITE>.example.com. The workstations are connected,
and working fine in our sites with the single servers.
We had a recent network upgrade that now

Is the machine your configuring permissions on joined to the domain that
samba is using?
That's the last of my advice/querying ability, since DNS is on a proper
server (and I assume pointed to the right address on the client as well)

AGI->Exec Problem
Hello,
I am having some trouble with the Asterisk::AGI perl library. It seems
that the AGI->Exec() command is causing me a problem.
Here's the line in my AGI code: $AGI->exec('Record',"$vmfile:wav, 30");
I'm trying to record voicemail to the file name stored in $vmfile with
a silence timeout of 30. However, this is not being parse by AGI or
Asterisk correctly,

Ok, it's taken me a while, but here's what seems to be the problem. In OSX
I see a lock on the file. If that lock is ON, it disappears. But what is
that lock and where did it come from.... Is it like a read only lock?

Upgrading Samba 3 to Samba 4 - Domain Controller unreachable
Hi all,
I upgraded Samba 3 to 4 when doing a Debian Wheezy to Jessie upgrade over
the last couple of weeks. Most things worked, but now that staff are back,
we're seeing more and more issues.
Computers are logging in using their cached credentials only. The computers
are not using updated password information from the server anymore. The
computers will not connect to the server via it's
