Unable to use BUILTIN AD groups on a domain member
I have set up a share on a domain member server and am attempting to set the ACLs from a domain-joined Windows 7 computer as per the WiKi at https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_Share_Using_Windows_ACLs I want to use one of the BUILTIN groups, Backup Operators to be able to have Full Control on files in the share (as it will be used for backups). I have set up a Samba Active Directory domain controller on a fresh install of Debian 8.3 (Jessie) using Samba 4.4.0 and everything works fine as far as I can tell. I had users' home folders with the H: drive letter connecting to the share on the DC and folder redirection for My Documents, Pictures etc. Then I decided to add a member server (also Debian Jessie) and put the users'

domain member idmap wbinfo WBC_ERR_DOMAIN_NOT_FOUND
Hi, I've done a classic upgrade to from samba 3.6.23 to samba 4.6.5 bringing across all the user accounts. The samba 3.6.23 we set up with smbldap as an NT Domain with OpenLDAP. After a lot of effort the classic upgrade worked well but now I'm a bit stuck with idmapping. The new AD DC is running 4.6.5 on CentOS7 and I can connect using ADUC. I set up a separate AD DM on a another CentOS7

sysvolcheck and sysvolreset errors
I have a samba DC based on Debian Buster running samba 4.12.2 from Louis' repo. A second DC on Raspbian buster is running samba 4.12.0. I have sysvol replication working using rsync/unison as per the WiKi. I wasn't having any issues until I tried to edit a GPO and found that all the acl settings had disappeared. This may have happened when I upgraded the DCs from 4.11.x to 4.12.x

ADS Domain Member - getent problem
Hello List, I'm running a Samba ADS on Debian 9, Samba version 4.5.12-Debian. Right now I'll try to add a Domain member - also running Samba version 4.5.12-Debian. Thanks to Loius and Rowland, this howto guided me a lot in the right direction: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_Samba_as_a_Domain_Member But right now I'll get stuck. It seems that the configuration is ok -

idmap woes after upgrade
Hello All, I've bitten the bullet and upgraded from sernet-samba-4.2 to 4.6.4-SerNet-RedHat-7.el7. Now my AD users don't show up in Linux, with the result that the [homes] share fails to connect. Other shares work fine, it's just the homes share. There doesn't appear to be any uidNumber mapping going on. I used to be able to use the unix command 'id' to show user info,

Online Backup Fails - list index out of range
In another thread on this list (https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2019-August/225607.html), Rowland suggested that the following command doesn't work ie it still requests the password: samba-tool domain backup online --targetdir=<output-dir> --server=<DC-server> -k yes However, I tried it out on one of my DCs and found it created the backup but failed at the end as this

Samba 4.5: trying to setup an omnios system as a DC member
Hello, I'm trying to setup an omnios system as a Samba DC member, and I need AD backend for consistent IDs on all Samba clients. The AD join is successful, the wbinfo shows the AD users # /opt/samba/bin/wbinfo -n andrea S-1-5-21-2680195940-2267646359-3814218302-1109 SID_USER (1) however, " getent passwd ..." returns nothing for the user (all the AD user) I have enabled debugging
