The servers are CentOS 7.4.1708; the domain controllers are built from source with samba-4.7.1; and the file server, installed winbind, smb and nmb from CentOS repos. My problem is after bringing up the second domain controller and successfully joining it

Setting up Second Samba DC samba-tool ntacl sysvolreset fails

First DC: [global] dns forwarder = 8.8.8.8 netbios name = TESTBOX realm = SAMDOM.TESTING.COM server role = active directory domain controller workgroup = SAMDOM idmap_ldb:use

Samba to Domain Member Server Configs Messed Up, Now getent fails
Hi List Absolute confused newb here. Again. I noticed that the user gid and uids on my DCs were different from the uids and gids I would find on the domain member file server. ( I created users with samba-tool). User UIDs on the DCs would start in the 30000XX range, while on the file server, the uid would start in the 1000XX range. In an attempt to rectify this, I changed the smb.conf from

Samba 4 and Windows Rights Management
Hi List, Please I need to answer this question... I have a friendly organization profiling Linux software solutions as an alternative to a Windows-based back end. I've been asked to find out if there's an alternative to the Windows Rights Management service. Im curious though, if Samba 4 could integrate with it? Thanks!

rid backend special group handling
Hi: I want to convert our samba file server from rfc2307 to rid backend. the configuration looks like: idmap config *:backend = tdb idmap config *:range = 5000-9999 idmap config SAMDOM:backend = rid idmap config SAMDOM:range = 10000-999999 idmap config SAMDOM:unix_primary_group = yes Most things work fine. normal user-id and group-id changed. so we change owners and acls to
