I have the following in my smb.conf

Problem with Samba 4.5.8 as a macOS server
Hello all,
I’m trying to use samba 4.5.8 as a file server for my Macs (all 10.12.4 now), as a replacement for netatalk.
I did setup smb.conf as suggested

llvm-config output on MacOS
Hi,
I configured and built LLVM as follows on Mac OS 10.13.2:
$ pwd
<llvm-build-dir>
$ cmake -G "Xcode" -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=<llvm-install-dir>
-DLLVM_ENABLE_PIC=0 <llvm-src-dir>/llvm
$ xcodebuild -project LLVM.xcodeproj
All binaries are in <llvm-build-dir>/Debug/bin. I am interested in using
the output of llvm-config. Now, when I run

llvm-config output on MacOS
Thanks for your reply, Paul.
That seems to be a plausible explanation.
I ended up adding code in my project to massage the output of llvm-config
to the right paths based of the values of CMAKE_GENERATOR and build-mode.

[ESS] R window: Text is read only (: Another round :)
Dear All
Working along in R (Emacs {Aquamacs}, ESS ) usually I am getting a long
R buffer with many rows. To reduce its length, I used to select
backwards and delete those unnecessary rows. Now I cannot do that, only
C-k allows single lines to be deleted. the mode line says 'Text is
read-only *R*>'. Both R and ESS are up to date.

Unexpected behaviour from read.table
I?ve been struggling with seemingly ?corrupt? data.frames for a few days, and believe I?ve narrowed the problem down to some odd behaviour from read.table
I receive a tab delimited file from an external provider where strings are encoded as =?content?. Not sure why, perhaps as most users open it in Excel.
My specific issue is that trailing spaces in any of the strings are causing strange results

sshfp/ldns still having issues in 7.6
I have been running openSSH 7.4p1 for a while now. When I upgraded to 7.5 a
year or so ago I ran into the problem listed in this bug report:
Bug report: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=218472
The release notes for 7.6 release notes indicate that the fix patch was
included: https://www.openssh.com/txt/release-7.6
I tried 7.6 and I still cannot connect without a prompt wondering

RQDA/RGtk2 Installation Problem
Greetings,
I have been having a problem installing RQDA on my Mac (OS 10.13.2). I
followed the installation process on the RQDA page (
http://rqda.r-forge.r-project.org/), but I keep getting an error message
saying that I am missing pkg-config and GTK. I reinstalled XQuartz and GTK+
2.24.17 multiple times (and reinstalled R version 3.4.4), but kept
receiving the same error message. I also tried

openssh build failure on High Sierra (10.13.2)
Back in January/March of 2017, it was the case that building openssh
with the latest openssl on MacOS 10.12.x (Sierra) was a bit of
a bother.
I could build everything with Xcode, but the resulting sshd segfaulted
upon invocation (see the archives). So I built gcc 6.3 and used that
to build openssh 7.x on Sierra. As long as machines stayed on 10.12.x,
all was fine.
Under High Sierra, the Xcode

GAM: mismatch between nb/polys supplied area names and data area names
Hello, I am new to R and running R version 3.4.3 (2017-11-30),
x86_64-apple-darwin15.6.0 (64-bit), macOS High Sierra 10.13.2.
I am running the gam package to model disease incidence (negative binomial
distribution) as a function of two covariates, and wish to incorporate
spatial correlation among areal neighbors, n = 50 polygons, identified by
"id". For data observed over discrete
