valid-users still not work in 3.0.23a
Hello, i was using the debian version of samba 3.0.14a. Everything works fine. Then I upgraded to 3.0.23 because of Windows Visa support. After that upgrade shares with "valid users" could not be accessed. So I waited for 3.0.23a and upgraded to this version. The problem still exists. The following message is in the log: User andi not in 'valid users'. Settings: security =

PAM_WINBIND problem with sambaPwdMustChange
Hi People! I use pam_winbind for authentication in my computer workstation using Debian Lenny 5.0, Stable Version. I configure my user with this option "sambaPwdMustChange: 0", and I logon in GDM without asking to change password. Who knows what can be? I use Samba PDC with Heimdal Kerberos, but, I configure PAM with only pam_winbind for tests... Client versions: ii

corruption and errors in dovecot-stable
Hi, We switched from dovecot 0.99.something to 1.0-stable (on FreeBSD 4.10) a few days ago and have been seeing many errors and one corrupted mailbox so far. Almost everyone uses mbox format, and most users primarily use SquirrelMail; I use Apple Mail and Thunderbird, as well as accessing the mailboxes locally with Mutt, and have not noted any visible problems. There have been several of

Rscript on OSX
Hi, I directed somebody to install R (2.6.1) on his OSX computer, following instructions from http://cran.r-project.org/bin/macosx. She can run R from the console. But plot(1:10) doesn't produce any output or open a window (as I am used to from linux). More importantly: Rscript is not in the path (minor problem ln -s is hopefully doable). I tried to put a hardcoded path to Rscript into the

[LLVMdev] Living on Clang
How about building this in the CMake or auto* level we build a separate build script for it? I attache a simple version here. It does seem to work here. It's a shell script, which uses cmake for the building but it seems the second stage file works. I am not really sure why a third stage is needed, but it can be added quite easily. A windows version should be trivial to write (next week). A

[LLVMdev] Living on Clang
> We want to make Clang great, and we need your help! Doug, I don't see any type of selfbuild target in the LLVM top level makefile. This would be a useful way to automate the self build process. I've used similar mechanisms before on other compilers, where you can trivially invoke a three phase build (first you do a full build with your system compiler, then you use your built

[LLVMdev] Living on Clang
Hello fellow LLVMers and Clangstas, We want to make Clang great, and we need your help! Helping is easy: just build Clang on your platform and start using it as your main compiler for LLVM and Clang development. Much of the Clang team has been living on Clang for at least several weeks already, and we've found it to be quite stable for development. If you run into problems---poor

GiT and Edge/Trunk Rails
I have a sub-application project that I had previously converted to edge rails under svn. Originally, vendor/rails was set up with svn:externals so that an svn update at the project''s root would pull the latest trunk along with all the other updates. Since Rails has moved to GiT and depreciated svn I decided to remove the svn:externals reference for vendor/rails and reinstall trunk using

Extended attributes not working on mac
I worked with Netatalk for years and want to switch to Samba now. Currently i use Ubuntu 20.04. and Debian 9 before, i had no issues with netatalk at all. As soon as i try to add a color tag (e.g. yellow) with Mac OS 10.15.5, the tag appears shortly but hides one second later. The file system is ZFS with no special options configured. I tried the Ubuntu package but also the builds from source

vfs_fruit: xattr imcompatible with netatalk
Hi. I'm testing samba 4.2.0 vfs_fruit on Fedora Server 22-alpha. I confirmed that ResourceFork and FinderInfo are compatible with Netatalk 3.1.7. However, EAs are incompatible. The character ":" in EA name is wrong. The EAs are not seen from clients. smb.conf: [test2] path = /export/test2 writable = yes vfs objects = catia fruit streams_xattr fruit:locking =
