"lanman auth" question
lanman should always be disabled.  use "testparm -v" to make sure the settings are applied as you expect.  With different samba versions, the defaults may change. I don't think you can disable ntlmv1 but leave ntlmv2 enabled.  I could be wrong.          NTLMv2 is stronger.     And I think clients will negotiate the strongest common protocol.      If you are in a small network

"lanman auth" question
How old is the scanner ?   Did you check for a firmware update for it?    NTLM has been around for so long that it is hard to imagine anything that has to have LANMAN support. smbclient is SLOWWWWWW; getaddrinfo failed
# rpm -qa samba samba-4.6.7-0.fc26.x86_64 Hi All, # smbclient -L FedoraServer -U workcentre -W xxxxx takes about 18 second to ask for the password. (Windows is slow too.) Me thinks it has to do with this error from /var/log/samba/samba-log.192.168.255.12 get_mydnsfullname: getaddrinfo failed for name FedoraServer.xxxxx.local [Unknown error] When I put a tail on the above log, this

Hello, There is a printer at work (a Xerox WorkCentre 5325). I am able to print using the following command: smbclient //MyHiddenPC/MyHiddenShare -WMyHiddenDomain -c 'print my-hidden-file.pdf'. However, it does not work when I try to print through CUPS using the following command: lp my-hidden-file.pdf. In the CUPS error_log file, the only error I can read is: [Job 5] PID 27883

I copied the smb.conf over to the new server. The XP workstations can see and mount everything. On the workstations, I removed myself from the old domain and rebooted, powered off the old server,

Xerox Workcentre pro 5740 PCL6 driver installation fails
Hi All, Anyone got this working with Samba? (3.5.4) I'm trying to install the driver, it copies across OK but then says "An unexpected error occurred in the print driver. Close the current driver window and retry the operation. 074:000:0061" Retrying doesn't help... The PS driver installs, but this lacks ALL of the options that come with the printer. Any help appreciated.
