LDB integrity problem
Hi,
I've done upgrade from Ubuntu 13.04 (samba 4.0 alpha) -> 13.10 -> 14.04
(samba 4.1.6).
Now it looks I've lost some accounts. samba-tool dbcheck reports
problems but cannot fix them with --fix param:

Best way to add samba4 to existing domain
I have Samba4 running, and it had a win2k3 server joined to it. This is
working great.
I'd like to add another Ubuntu 12.04 server with samba4 beta5. What's the
best join method?
Do I provision the server as a member, then join using samba-tools domain
join <domain>
When I do it looks like it doesn't replicate the directory, just forwards?
Should I provision as a DC with

Sorry, I meant to include the command you sent in my last message, I had
executed it while troubleshooting...

FSMO / ldbsearch
Hi,
After a couple of unfortunate hardware failures and some not insignificant
amount of work to rebuild two of my DCs, I am trying to check that things
are now working correctly.
Looking at the wiki page on FSMO ownership, one suggestion is to run the
following ldbsearch command.. but this doesn't work for me.
root at dc2:~# ldbsearch --cross-ncs -H /var/lib/samba/private/sam.ldb -b

Unable to join DC to domain
Hi Rowland,
I had run those queries during troubleshooting last night as well,
apologies if I get ahead of myself, here are all of my missing roles, they
only have dn entries, the second line containing fsmoowner is blank:
itwerks at cbadc01:~$ sudo /usr/local/samba/bin/ldbsearch -H
/usr/local/samba/private/sam.ldb -b 'CN=System,DC=cb,DC=cliffbells,DC=com'

Unable to join DC to domain
Alright... appreciate the info. Gave it a shot. Domain is still up but
shares are down because they were hosted on FILER which has now been
demoted and is no longer running any samba services.
What I did while following the wiki "Transfer/Seize FSMO Roles":
1) logged on to FILER, ran samba-tool fsmo show, verified all 7 roles were
owned by FILER.
2) logged on to CBADC01, executed

bogus record in _msdcs zone in samba-dc
Hello,
I've just discovered a bogus record in _msdcs zone which exists on samba-dc
(vm-dc4, 4.12.2) only and missing on a PDC (vm-dc1, Windows Server 2008 R2):
# samba-tool dns query localhost _msdcs.domain.com @ ALL -U administrator 2>/dev/null
Password for [DOMAIN\administrator]:
Name=, Records=3, Children=0
NS: vm-dc1.domain.com. (flags=600000f0, serial=181, ttl=3600)
