Centos and RadeonHD 4570
Hi guys, Recently I've done a bad bad thing, buying a laptop with an ATI card. The card itself is supposed to be quite decent performance wise, but the ATI drivers still suck a lot. I haven't yet tried booting Centos on this laptop, but I used a Fedora 12 LiveCD. Fedora displays things nicely, but no 3D accel (I like to play OpenArena/Tremulous every now and then). After some serious

Guild Wars
I cant seem to get Guild Wars to run at all. When I launch it I I get an error "Guild Wars has encountered an unrecoverable graphics driver error and must terminate". This is a Guild Wars message and not a Wine message. So I'll cover the basics. My system is a P4 3.2 Ghz with an AGP bus, and 2gigs of ram. I'm currently using an ATI based Sapphire 3850 AGP card 512m, and running

Status of s3tc patent in respect to open-source drivers and workarounds
Hi radeonhd, nouveau, mesa3d developers, Firstly, thank you all very much for all the important work you do. I've been working as a part-time developer on the "Spring RTS" project (open-source game engine) which runs on linux (and other os). Some time ago I tried the engine on the open-source ATI radeonhd driver, which I understand to be partly based on mesa 3d, and all textures

Lost R300/NV40 development work you may have
On the Radeon IRC channel (http://www.radeonhd.org/?page=archive_display&c=radeon&m=1&y=2009&d=2009-1-26), you expressed interest in Corbin Simpson's R300 LLVM work, at git://anongit.freedesktop.org/~csimpson/llvm, which was based on Stephane Marchesin's earlier NV40 work. Both these projects have since been lost due to an hard drive crash. If you happened to still have

Rendering problems in GW
I'm trying to get Guild Wars working under Wine. I'm running on a Phenom 9950 with 4GB of RAM and a radeonHD 4850. I have wine 1.1.4 and catalyst 8.8 installed on Ubuntu Hardy (8.04). When GW starts, it seems to render correctly, except that the blocks of graphics seem to be positioned in the wrong places, so that all the screen is jumbled up. When I take a screenshot, (through the gw

I have an odd issue. I have one machine that does not display to the monitor when it goes to a linux boot loader. It has the issue with grub and pxelinux. I see the bios but between bios and graphics driver I see a blank screen. Any recommendations on how to fix it? More to it. It is a newer nvidia card, That I need to drive a 4K monitor at 60Hz . If I replace it with an old nvidia card I can

Have you tried a different monitor? Has that monitor ever shown you a boot loader menu? It might be that it just doesn't support the low-level resolutions Grub is trying to use. I want to see things, I'm not sure how quiet would work. Maybe next time I get the box I can re-put in the older working card and try to do a firmware upgrade. This does not seem distro specific. All versions of grub and syslinux do not work in the default configs. I will try using menu.c32 vs vesamenu.c32 as well. To see if it won't display. On Wed, Dec 20, 2017 at 4:52 AM, Gene Cumm

ATI (rv350) + open-source driver + wine gaming issues
Hello everyone. I seem to have a bit of a problem running some 3D accelerated games under wine, while using the open-source ATI Radeon driver. My graphics card is Radeon 9700, and the open-source drivers overall work much better than the proprietary fglrx. The fglrx driver allows me (in most cases) to run games like Temple of Elemental Evil (particularily) or Morrowind normally, but I can't
