Slow, Incorrect Group Resolution through Winbind
Thanks for the help and suggestions.
I've removed the deprecated options "idmap uid" and "idmap gid" and
explicitly set "idmap config * : range" and "idmap config * : backend." New
output from testparm is at the end of this message. (But note that
previously I was only setting "idmap uid" and "idmap gid" in the
configuration files,

Happy to Pay for Ubuntu/Active Directory Help
Hello,
My company, EditShare (based in Boston, MA, USA) is looking for an
expert in configuring Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS to work with Active
Directory/Windows Server 2008 R2. We need somebody who has done this
many times before and who does not need time for research.
We already hired a reasonably experienced freelance system
administrator to get us going, and we seem to be most of the way

[LLVMdev] About Register Allocation
Hello,
I would like to implement a register allocation scheme which is much like
the Linear Scan. It's known as Belady's Optimal Algorithm. In fact, the
algorithm is very close to the linear scan algorithm, except instead of
ranges, it uses points in time. I am wondering if anyone
with experience implementing register optimization algorithms within LLVM
would be interested in helping me.

smb protocol version
I don't have any lines in my configuration file for any of the servers,
how can I tell what the default protocols are?
Are the defaults controlled by samba or the kernel?

Accessing multiple Active Directory accounts simultaneously from a single Linux server
Hello,
I have been doing a lot of research on this subject and I'm not finding a clear answer. My company currently makes a video capture and transcoding application that runs on a Linux server. The video application mounts shares from a second Linux storage server for various users at the same time. In other words, we have:
A Linux Storage Server with many accounts (for example,

The 3 lines above all mean the same thing, the last 2 are synonyms of the first.
Taking a peek at "man smb.conf" is a good place to start.

About adding bricks ...
Hi @all,
I've created a Distributed-Replicated Volume consisting of 4 bricks on
2 servers.
# gluster volume create glusterfs replica 2 transport tcp \
gluster0{0..1}:/srv/gluster/exp0 gluster0{0..1}:/srv/gluster/exp1
Now I have the following very nice replication schema:
+-------------+ +-------------+
| gluster00 | | gluster01 |

Evaluating an expression
Hi,
I want to create a data frame similar to the following, but greatly scaled up:
df <- data.frame(aaa= c("a","b","c"), integer(3), integer(3))
names(df)[2:3] <- paste("var",1:2,sep="")
which yields
aaa var1 var2
1 a 0 0
2 b 0 0
3 c 0 0
I would not relish having to paste 'integer(3)' 5000 times :(

transposing data
Hi. I have repeated measures data of the form where each observation
is a trial, and trials are grouped by subject, and variables encode
whatever level of a factor was present during that trial, and the
dependent variable is response time (RT). I want to transpose the
data to a form suitable for MANOVA such that there is one observation
per subject and RT is recoded across many
