Very strange issue copying only certain files to a share
I've been troubleshooting this issue for over a week and am running out of
ideas.
Generally everything works fine. I can copy files into the share, create
and delete files and folders. However when copying *some* files from
windows specifically it will say "The destination already has a file named
"a"". A size 0 file by that name is then created. No files exist in the

Random EINVAL when opening files with SMB3 POSIX extensions enabled
Hello!
I recently tried enabling SMB3 POSIX extensions as I'm only using Linux clients
and would like to make use of the standard unix permission bits. However, I'm
running into an issue where a simple `cat` fails with -EINVAL when opening the
file:
openat(AT_FDCWD, "Shells.txt", O_RDONLY) = -1 EINVAL (Invalid argument)
The weird thing is that it's intermittent.

Samba4 Permission Problem
Hello everyone,
I am having the following problem with my samba:
I did the installation and compilation from source and samba is working
correctly integrated with my AD. However the following situation happens:
when I am logged on to the workstation with a user from the domain
administrators group I can create files and folders on the share. When I am
logged in with a user who does not belong

Fix sharing ACL
I am in search of solution to this problem.
Looking at the logs, I found the following information.
When I try to create a folder, I view it in the Samba log:

Share inaccessible intermittently and often - restarting smb cures for short time
Additional Information:
This is happening on both a Windows 7 client and a Windows 10 client both of which are joined to the domain. Seems to be some sort of file locking issue but it is happening at the share level - before I even attempt to access or write a file.
On a different server running Samba 4.9.2 and a relatively similar setup (same build commands but running on CentOS 7) I do not

Interesting that you're using the sernet packages.. Mine was built from
source. I guess we're the only two people on the planet having this issue
:). I am going to attempt to downgrade just my file server to a few
versions back and see if it starts working.

Share inaccessible intermittently and often - restarting smb cures for short time
The thing about us being the only ones was kind of tongue and cheek hence the smiley :) .. and was only because of no response.
I will be happy to help where I can providing logs and testing etc.. but I'm no programmer and as such I'm not the person to try and troubleshoot. I would consider myself a user of the product.
As far as running on a previous version I'm not too

4.12.2 breaks with win clients NT_STATUS_SHARING_VIOLATION
Hi
After Fedora 31 upgrade to F32, samba started to break after more
clients connect (up to 10).
No config change, no clients change, no sharing changes.? F31 had smb
4.11.7 and was working fine
after restarting service it works for a while then it breaks with
various messages for each client
I tried removing some old parameters (no help), I had mounted ssd drive
into folder structure and I

Share inaccessible intermittently and often - restarting smb cures for short time
I just installed version 4.11.7 and the problem has gone away so either it's a bug or a new "feature" that we have to set some config setting to fix.
I am still having the annoying issue with deleting thumbs.db files which I currently have on the other install as well. I'm not sure why there is a locking issue with these files but every time I try to delete a folder I get an

Same here, I had also wrote to the mailing list,

Windows Clients get the error ?another prosscess is in use? or ?wrong handle? when a user try to open a network share.
After restart samba it?s working for a little moment but mostly not.

Hello,
First of all : Happy New Year to you all :-)
I need your help for a problem.
I've 2 servers on CentOS 7: a Samba DC+AD and a Samba Files Sharing.
In the Samba file sharing server, all data is store in a RAID Disk

Permission Issue
Hi,
just to keep you updated:
The following trick seems to work for me:
1.) I stopped winbind on the cluster
2.) I deleted the cache: "net cash flush"
Afterwards the result for "id testuser" was not quite the same like the
result on the "old fileserver"
3.) I stopped the ctdb daemon
4.) I backuped /var/lib/samba/winbindd_cache.tdb on all nodes
5.) I restared

Permission Issue
Hi,
yes, I did.
I get the same results with "getent passwd testuser" on each node.
/etc/ctdb/nodes and /etc/ctdb/public_addresses is exactly the same on
each node
On each node sernet-samba/stretch,now 99:4.9.12-15 amd64 is installed
Yes, I read the documentation. It is strange, that another cluster in
another office configured that way is working perfect ;( The load is not

Share inaccessible intermittently and often - restarting smb cures for short time
Don?t think we?re the only one with this problem,
We use it how I said for 3 Companies and we have this issue at all our customers after upgrade to 4.12, before we never had this problem.
Downgrade will solve this problem but stay always on an old version brings in future new problems.
We have a sernet subscription but no support package, that?s the reason why I write here.
The question is here

Hi,
I don't have the user root.
No changes :( Sometimes a user gets permissions, sometimes not.
This net conf is now running:

??? winbind use default domain = yes
