I have several questions : 1) Can I remove "netbios-name-server" or must I set this parameter to the IP of my Samba 4 ? 2) What is the good value for "netbios-node-type" to work only with dns server ? 3) Are there other parameters to set to well work with samba 4 ? In some tests of moving from samba3.5 to samba3.6 I find that the netapp filer don't recognize the groups of the users. Anybody knows where is the problem? I have an old Centos5/Samba3.5 domain with LDAP backend that I am attempting to migrate to the latest Samba 4.2 on Centos 7.1. Samba in both cases has been installed using Sernet packages. I had successfully run the classicupgrade process, but in subsequent testing found that in the 3.5 domain all the computer accounts have the posixAccount class and therefore have a uidNumber.

Thanks, I think I found the issue now. My system loves to be stubborn about DNS. The fact that /etc/resolv.conf is automatically generated from configuration probably didn't help either. I was convinced the DNS worked, but the system decided otherwise. It readily explains the Kerberos issue. The reboot of the system probably reset the DNS and it showed up as a Kerberos issue. Hi people, I have a print server using Debian, LPRNG and SAMBA working without any problems. Now I 'm trying to set up a new server with CentOS 6, CUPS and SAMBA. It 's a very simple setup: a few local users and a few printers, nothing special. If you have a test setup, try the following. keep the computer UIDs and change the user uids. i did read this somewhere. samba generates SIDs the same way as you would normally generate GUID's and store them in a database. maybe this sid change because of the change uid.
