Sure thing. As I stated earlier, except for the two added options
(client use spnego and acl allow execute always) it's identical to my
Samba 3 config. Also, I've trimmed down things to just an example user

Samba 3.6 -> 4.2 upgrade on FreeBSD
Hello.
I know this is half OS-specific: I already asked on freebsd-ports@, but
got no answer so far...
Since 3.6 has been EOLed I'd like to upgrade all my such Samba
installations to 4.2.
Right now I don't want to switch any of them to AD; I just want to keep
running as I do now, but with a supported version.
I've started from the simplest cases and so far I've been able to

ID mapping with SFU not setting shell
Hi,
I'm trying to use SFU to set user IDs, shells, etc. but I can't work out the right magic - it always seems to use default template shell and home directory (but the UID seems correct)
The global section of my smb4.conf looks like so:
# Global parameters
[global]
log level = all:2
netbios name = GATEWAY2
realm = BEGER.COM.AU
server role = active

Can someone explain why host reports no SOA record for domain on DC?

samba 4.0.6 getent group
Hello all listies.
I've got samba4.0.6 running on FreeBSD 9.1.
Joined W2K12 domain as member server.
running getent group I noticed it takes a long time to resolve groups.
The result is correct, but it is inordinately long.
With 3.6.13 on FreeBSD 9.1 the return is nearly instantaneous.
smb4.conf looks like this.
[global]
workgroup = TMS3
security = ADS
realm = TMS3.COM

Samba AD-DC on FreeBSD-12.1 Jail
I decided to scrap everything and restart from the very beginning.
I created a new jail.
I installed samba410 samba-nsupdate py37-dnspython as these are current.
I provisioned a domain:
samba-tool domain provision --adminpass=INstall166 --dns-backend=SAMBA_INTERNAL
--dnspass=INstall166 --domain=BROCKLEY --host-name=SMB4-1
--host-ip=192.168.8.166 --option="bind interfaces only=yes"

Configuring aio_pthread
I'm trying to learn more about samba by experimenting with samba on
FreeNAS. This involves a certain amount of reading how default smb4.conf
parameters are set in FreeNAS and then reading the manpages for those
parameters.
Async I/O is implemented in samba in freenas via the aio_pthread VFS
module. The manpage for vfs_aio_pthread states:
"the smb.conf parameters aio read size and aio
