Nope, I did try installing them now, made no difference.
I have backup-scripts running on the server for months, and it worked before.

Hi,
Could you post the whole smb.conf? That should help...
Did you install libpam-winbind? libpam-krb5?
Kerberos is working? It should as you mentioned join was ok.
Anyway and in short, to help we need information.
And playing with wbinfo could help to understand what you missed (wbinfo -n
username; wbinfo -S userSID; wbnifo -i username; for a start)

member server idmap config (auto)rid
Hi Niel,
First I've no knowledge about clustering Samba. I'll read what gave Louis
but for now, I didn't.
Anyway, several suggestions:
About hostname, if it is really an issue, you should be able to cheat using
/etc/hosts and configuring /etc/nsswitch with:
"hosts: files dns myhostname"
or
"hosts: files dns"
as I'm not sure what really means this

If you use the debian package 4.5.8 is can suggest you upgrade to 4.6.5 from buster or use my 4.6.6
Go through this changelog.
http://metadata.ftp-master.debian.org/changelogs/main/s/samba/samba_4.6.5+dfsg-8_changelog
My 4.6.6 is based on 4.6.5+dfsg-6
But i cant tell much jet about clustering setups.
Except this page:

Ok debian stretch..
Go here.
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=862580#39
Review all steps there. ( message 39, Date: Mon, 22 May 2017 10:21:18 +0200 )
And if you change something, mark it so you can find it back, but that config works.
If it fails, post you smb.conf and post where you see errors based on the steps of above link.
Without smb.conf is a guessing game.

AD member server, some users suddenly can only connect to shares via ip address

Thanks for help.... remember this has been working up to now and only a
few users have the password prompt.. (btw "gibb.local" is a trusted
samba3 domain used for migration, connecting as a gibb.local user does work)
getent passwd returns expected results, as does wbinfo -u

The server is resolved just fine, it just gets a password prompt. The
server can also resolve the client correctly.

"getent passwd" works, "getent passwd username" does not
Domain member server (Debian stretch with 4.8 from the Van Belle repo)
getent passwd| grep nprice
GIBB\nprice:*:1001104:1000513::/home/GIBB/nprice:/bin/false
getent passwd GIBB\\nprice
(returns nothing)
getent passwd 1001104 also returns nothing
wbinfo -u works fine
wbinfo --uid-info 1001104
GIBB\nprice:*:1001104:1000513::/home/GIBB/nprice:/bin/false
wbinfo -i GIBB\\nprice

Thanks for advice on smb.conf..
Today people who could not access it yesterday can, and some people who
could access it can't and even one who cannot access it via the ip
address, so you know what I'll be doing this weekend.

sort file names in numerical order
Hello,
I get some file names by list.files().
These names are in alphabetical order.
I want to change it to logical numeric order.
Example:

> sort(fileNames)
[1] "A1" "A10" "A2" "B1" "B10" "B2"

unix password sync problems!
I have been trying for hours to get the unix password sync going properly
with Samba 1.9.18p4 running on FreeBSD 2.2.5
I have compiled Samba with the ALLOW_CHANGE_PASSWORD option enabled.
I created the smbpasswd file as ENCRYPTION.txt states, and can set
passwords as root.
However, when a user tries changing their password, it doesn't work.

getent group fails on member server after upgrade to 3.5.5
I have a member server joined to a samba 3 domain. It was working fine
with 3.4.8 but after an upgrade to 3.5.5 (debian lenny with backports)
getent group no longer works.
getent passwd works fine, wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g work fine
I upgraded some other servers which are DC's and those work fine.

Samba 2.2.5 printing problems
Hi all,
I'm having problems getting SPOOLSS support working correctly. (Samba
2.2.5 on FreeBSD 4.5.)
Often when viewing settings on the shared printers,
I get a wonderful 'illegal operation' error in either explorer.exe or
spoolsvs.exe (many things seem to trigger this error - especially
attempting to select additional drivers).
Secondly, when things don't crash, I am able to

Windows Policies and Samba 2.0.4b - More information
Hello all,
I wrote yesterday about problems with Windows policies and Samba 2.0.4b
yesterday. Since then, I've had someone ask for a more detailed
explanation, so here it is.
Samba currently provides domain logons for a number Windows 95 and 98
clients (as well as the standard file serving). The domain logon currently
succeeds, a user's username and password is accepted and the client

parsing fix for spoolss & samba-2.2.5
For those people experiencing Explorer.exe crashes when working with
printers, please try this patch
ftp.samba.org/pub/jerry/patches/post-2.2.5/parse_sec.patch
It was a size vs. alignment bug when marshalling security
descriptors for the PRINTER_INFO_2 structure.

floating point in single precision
Hello,
is there a possibilty in R to convert numbers (double precision, 64bit) into
single precision ones (32bit).
I need that for compatibility reasons. Until now I call a C application which
casts a double to a float.
float precision32(double value) {
return (float)value;
}
But I want to use a R only method. What can I do?
Kind regards,
Sebastian

get absolute file path
Hello,
I get a value which stores a relative file name. (I get it from another
function, which I don't want to change.)
e.g.
> fileName <- "../data/2010-08.csv";
Is it possible to get the absolute file path out of this value?
(e.g. /home/sebastian/documents/data/2010-08.csv)
Kind regards,
Sebastian
