CentOS 6 dhcpd custom log issues
Hi all, I've got an issue with C6's dhcpd custom logging that I cannot figure out. Hopefully someone has an idea, or has seen a similar issue. We have dhcpd logging to /var/log/messages a custom header (DHCPUSER:) with MAC, IP and Circuit-ID. I'll not bore you with the guts, so here's the beginning of that line in dhcpd.conf: if exists agent.circuit-id { log (info,

SAMBA4 API
by modify I mean add, change and/or remove DNS records (depending on the values passed to the API). Also, yes I mispoke, we would only be modifying the records on one DC, and replication would take care of the rest. DHCP and DNS
I know this is samba list and I am hoping that someone with MS AD experience can answer this definitively. Does AD have some kind of data exchange between dhcp and dns so that systems which receive a dhcp lease from an AD DC more reliably register their hostname with AD DNS? Looking at the RFC I couldn't see any reason why this should be the case. But it seems that host name registration for

Samba AD /dns /dhcp
Hi there, thanks for your reply. Probably I should add that: a) I'm running Centos7 on the RPi3. b) Compiled and installed samba 4.7.2 from source (packaged AD samba not available for CentOS) c) I haven't managed an AD before this thing landed in my lap, much less a Samba AD :) On 30 November 2017 at 15:45, Rowland Penny via samba <samba at lists.samba.org > wrote: > > >

can't do dhcp + samba + bind work together
I use official manual from wiki.samba.org for install samba 4.6.3 (from source) with bind_dlz on bind 9.9.10 (from source too). My OS is Debian Jessie x64 8.8 netinst. I use https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configure_DHCP_to_update_DNS_records_with_BIND9 article for dynamic dhcp updates on dns zones. DHCP is working but dns updates not: i have this messages on my syslog then dhcpoffer: May 17

Samba-tool password expiration and service accounts
Initially I had set password expiration to be 6 months using samba-tool, and used ADUC to tick the "password never expires" box on specific service accounts that I wanted to keep with the same password. What I found was that even with this box checked, the account's passwords did expire after 6 months. So it seems that the password settings configured by samba-tool apply to all

Samba AD /dns /dhcp
Hello there. I hope I'm in the right place for some Samba AD advice. I recently added two extra ADs to a setup I inherited. Originally there was a single Samba AD with BIND9_DLS config. DHCP was separate. Subsequently I installed Samba on two Raspberry Pis to act as backup servers. Basically, I followd this set of instructions:

Samba4 DC with Secondary Questions
Hello all. I am currently working on setting an S4 domain to replace our aging samba 3 setup. We have found many answers on the net, in various documentation, but when it comes to setting up beyond one node documentation becomes a little thinner. We are setting up a Primary DC with AD, using BIND9_DLZ, also serving dhcp from Primary, and we want to setup a Secondary that is both a

cannot use simple=TRUE in boot
I am doing boot with a large database, thus want to use?simple=TRUE to reduce the memory used. I alreday set up sim="ordinary", stype="i" , but I don't know how to set "n=0". In fact, I don't know what does "n=0" mean? For example, a<-c(1:1000) b<-c(2:1001) c<-cbind(a,b) library(boot) table<-function(c,indices){ d<-c[indices,]

DHCP update registration DNS Bind9
Dear Rowland, I appreciate the initial contact and the hint that you sent. I followed the tips presented in the wiki Samba and implemented the script on Centos 7. Apparently it's working. I'll wait for the next hours work, to make sure it worked. I have doubts: - It is possible to manually perform the update script DNS? I tried to manually run but could not. - Dhcpd that will

SAMBA4 API
We aren't using BIND, we are using the builtin SAMBA backend. Also the requests for updates are going to come from external to the DC. IE, the inventory server needs to send a request to the DC to add/update/remove etc DNS records. This is why I'm looking for an API. Samba4 DC with Secondary Questions
Rowland, thank you for the reply. I must have misstated. We have successfully setup our first DC. It works great with DHCP and BIND9_DLZ and updates nicely as it is designed to, kerberos and all. The question is about the second server. Perhaps MY understanding of what I have read on the samba wiki, and others, is different than actual reality. http://bit.ly/2r3IOjt ;) Perhaps if I show
