dnf-makecache.service failing every few days and dnf-automatic.service samba sssd issues (again).
Hello everybody, Could someone give me an estimate on when the repositories are resolving the right dependencies for the freeipa pacakges in CentOS Stream release 8? I have about +10 systems sending me alerts everyday that dnf-automatic.service is failing because of the freeipa dependency issues. Since freeipa is one of the security elements I would like to give people an estimate on when

Samba4 fails to work following upgrade - library version errors
Hello, I was running Samba4 for a while on my Raspberry Pi (Raspbian distro, running 3.6.11+ #371 PREEMPT armv6l kernel).? The version of Samba I was running was 4.1.0pre1-GIT-fd8b258. Last night I decided to try to upgrade to see if I could upgrade it without breaking it. Note that the AD this Pi is the DC for doesn't have any physical clients as members; I was using a Virtual PC running

How to build Samba4 using static linked libraries
Hi All: I am building the torture/smbtorture for samba-4.0.0alpha17. After build, I am running the test in another environment. I not only need to copy the binary smbtorture, I also need to copy the shared libraries. This is HUGE inconvenient for us. Could somebody tell me how to build the binary using static linked libraries? Thanks very much Peixing libpthread.so.0 =>

Compiling issues latest samba4
Hey all, I'm having some difficulties compiling the latest samba4 from git. It all goes fine untill the linking. I've copy pasted the error i'm getting below. I've cleaned it, removed and redownloaded it, tried with both developer configure and normal configure and it all seems to get stuck on the same spot. Thanks for any pointers. [3516/3794] Linking

Samba does not work after upgrade to Ubuntu 20.04.1
Hello, today I upgraded one of my DCs to Ubuntu to 20.04.1. After that my DC did not work anymore, despite unmasking, reenabling. In /var/log/samba/log.samba I get the error messages below. Looks like libraries are missing. What shall I do? Thanks, Joachim root at cobra:/var/log/samba# cat log.samba [2020/10/11 15:12:51.009065, 0]

Hello Samba, I am running ubuntu 14.04 LTS, kernel version 4.4.0-71-generic #92~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP, originally the samba version was 4.3 I got hold of samba 4.6.2 Tar from the official repo, configured, compiled, and installed the bits. "Random" crashes of Samba as AD DC
Hey all, up until 2 weeks ago my samba DC was running just fine, then it began crashing randomly. I was using 4.8.0 before, now upgraded to a self-compiled 4.8.3 with default build parameters on an up-to-date centos 7.5 with disabled SELinux and bind9 as DNS backend with samba_dlz. The log output at log level = 10 is as follows: Jul 17 14:49:20 hostname samba[4998]: [2018/07/17 14:49:20.587655,

Crashes on File Access - Post Solaris Patching
I recently patched my Solaris server and suddenly my Samba service is not working correctly. When Anyone accesses a samba share the samba daemon panics and shuts down. PANIC running Samba as Domain Controller
We've been having issues with the samba process PANICing for some time now (approx 24 months, though the log files have rotated so I can't give an exact date). For most of this time it was an annoyance - it occurred perhaps once a fortnight and didn't cause great disruption. Around the end of 2019 the PANIC's became more frequent. When they occur machines attempting to authenticate

sssd-ad cannot be installed with sernet samba
sernet-packages should normally replace the distribution packages. On my CentOS box it works really fine. Do you have sernet-samba-libs installed? Possibly you have sssd-ad already? Have you checked if there is a file /usr/lib64/sssd/libsss_ad.so or similar? If yes, check the file's dependencies: # ldd /usr/lib64/sssd/libsss_ad.so linux-vdso.so.1 => (0x00007fff769dd000)

samba4 on debian squeeze
I'm setting up a debian squeeze file server with NFS mounted home directories and authentication via ldap. Now I want to give Windows users access to those same home directories. I thought I'd try samba4. I figure I have nothing to lose since this is a virtual machine and if I don't like the results, I can just restore from a snapshot. Its not a production machine yet. I'd

dnf-makecache.service failing every few days and dnf-automatic.service samba freeipa issues (again).
Hello everybody, What is the status of the freeipa/sssd and samba conflicts in the repositories? I can not wrap my mind around that two big packages are not getting security updates anymore, because they are conflicting. I will go to FOSDEM in Belgium this year to figure out more, but I am considering moving my centos systems to rockylinux. Kind regards, Jelle de Jong On 12/16/22 16:59,

Signal 11 on domain join (Debian 10 Samba 4.9.5+dfsg-5+deb10u1)
I wanted to do a little playtesting with Samba as a domain controller. I spun up a Debian 10 box, installed Samba (package 4.9.5+dfsg-5+deb10u1) , and attempted to join it to the domain. It crashed horribly. ;) Unfortunately their domain ends in ".local". There's nothing I can do about it at the moment. But I do remove multicast DNS from nsswitch to prevent it from attempting to
