Samba AD DC backup - again
Hey list. I've searched all over last year conversations and it is (kinda) still unclear about backups. samba_backup script assumes that samba4 was installed from source, not from repository. https://github.com/thctlo/samba4/tree/master/backup-script is too overfunctional for simple backup script. Really, I know how to write shell scripts, but sometimes have headaches reading them ☺ The

Samba AD DC backup - again
Hai, I dont think its over functional, it includes everything you need for a good AD DC backup. This is about the minimal you should backup for an AD DC. If you want to backup samba when turned off. You need at least: /etc/samba /var/lib/samba /var/cache/samba /etc/krb* Check if sysvol is included in you backup and i also suggest an extra ACL backup of sysvol. !! Dont copy the

howto force shutdown if nut-snmp Communications lost
Hallo, I have one ups with snmp and any ups without snmp. Shutdown works while network online. But some batteries are empty, so that the communication break early. Howto force shutdown if nut-snmp Communications lost? My 1. suggestion was option DEADTIME, but seem to be information only. (s. below) Any suggestions? The last way would be a ugly cronjob (like: ping || shutdown). regards Heiko

libvirt RPC error
Hi, I'm using qemu+ssh://username at hostname/system as the remote URI. Libvirt seems to be communicating fine until some 2 minutes (we poll every 5 seconds) and then it throws up RPC error and many counters are wrong. But if I collect on localhost the counters seems to be coming fine. Test and testvm are guests on the local machine where as Win8 and Ubuntu* are remote URI's connected

different uuids, but still "Attempt to migrate guest to same host" error
Background: ---------- I'm trying to debug a two-node pacemaker/corosync cluster where I want to be able to do live migration of KVM/qemu VMs. Storage is backed via dual-primary DRBD (yes, fencing is in place). When moving the VM between nodes via 'pcs resource move RES NODENAME', the live migration fails although pacemaker will shut down the VM and restart it on the other node.

auth audit log question
Hi, Since samba 4.7 I have setup auth logging, and while I can relate most failed passwords to users mistyping a password, there is one kind that I don't understand, happening across our samba-DCs. Things work without issues, but I'm just being curious. :-) > [2017/11/23 04:47:32.166753, 2] ../auth/auth_log.c:760(log_authentication_event_human_readable) > Auth: [Kerberos

Migration with rbd storage backend
Hi, Seems that such migration is currently broken, at least for 0.9.11|0.9.12, with 0.9.8 all works fine: virsh migrate --live testvm qemu+tcp://towerbig/system ---snip--- 2012-05-17 21:22:30.250+0000: 16926: debug : qemuDriverCloseCallbackGet:605 : vm=testvm, uuid=feb7ccb6-1087-8661-9284-62e3a1e9f44a, conn=(nil) 2012-05-17 21:22:30.250+0000: 16926: debug : qemuDriverCloseCallbackGet:611 :

Hi, We are having an issue, trying to install a domain member server. I'm following the samba wiki: - samba 4.6.1 - krb5.conf as recommended on wiki - time synced - kinit works - dns works (DCs in resolv.conf) - setup a basic smb.conf (pasted at the end of this email) - edit nsswitch.conf to include winbind for passwd/group and then finally "net ads join -U administrator -d5" fails

CentOS 6 Xen virt* issues
Hello, I just upgraded some of my el6xen boxes to latest CentOS 6.7, Xen 4.4.3 and dom0 3.18.17 rpms, and noticed these new problems: 1) virt-manager fails to start with an error: "D-Bus library appears to be incorrectly set up; failed to read machine uuid: Failed to open "/var/lib/dbus/machine-id": No such file or directory" And indeed.. there was no such file. Migration stalls with 2.6.26.5 kernel
Hello, I have been struggling through the task of moving our infrastructure over to Xen VMs. We were initially using Ubuntu packages for both dom0 and our domUs, but experienced extreme instability so we moved to CentOS, which has been much more reliable for dom0. Since we already had a bunch of Ubuntu VMs, we left them using the Ubuntu 2.4.24-19-xen kernel, but this has turned out to be

NTLM refuses to work on a DC
Hi there, I'm trying to get FreeRADIUS to authenticate against my Samba DC. It's Samba 4.7.6-ubuntu running on Ubuntu 18 (kernel version 4.15.0-66-generic). It came nicely packaged with Zentyal, which provides a nice GUI for managing a domain, as well as a CA and lots of cool small features. That same Zentyal also includes support for FreeRADIUS (3.0.16). This is my smb.conf:

winbind problem (?) on samba 3 ADS
Hi, I have installed samba 3.0.6 based on the "Official HOWTO" to join out Active Directory environment, with winbind and pam support. I have join the samba to the domain using "net ads join -Umyloginame". I can do the "wbinfo -g", "getent passwd" and "getent group" correctly. I also can list shares on other machine, using kerberos: # kinit

Hai Mourik-Jan, This looks all good. Only one thing in the config, you can remove : winbind nss info = rfc2307 Since your alread set ( for 4.6.x) : idmap config INTECH:unix_nss_info = yes Can you check the content of the keytab? klist -ke /etc/krb5.keytab post ( if needed anonymized ) the content you see. run : net ads keytab list -UAdministrator And did you by accident run : net ads
