samba 4.4.14 breaks classic domain
I increased the logging to 10 on the problem member server. Didn't see
anything of interest.
I did a packet capture on the PDC while typing " net rpc testjoin" from
both the problem member server (4.4.14) and a working member server
(4.4.13)

samba 4.4.14 breaks classic domain
Good catch. I had set server max protocol to NT1 after upgrading from
samba 3.x to 4.x . Some windows clients had problems with SMB2 and
file shares (tho this should not really be an issue with the domain
controllers.)
I have now set the dc's to
server max protocol = SMB2
server min protocol = NT1
and the client machine to be
client max protocol = SMB2

Samba 4.3.9 member server problem in classic domain
I have a Fedora Core 23 Linux machine configured as a samba member of a
"classic" domain. The DC's Samba 3.6.25 NOT patched for badlock.
Since upgrading to Samba 4.3.8 and (I think from 4.3.6 or 4.3.4) ,
domain users can no longer access resources. (upgraded to 4.3.9,
same problem) Since I had to roll back my Synology appliance to a
previous OS, and reviewing other

samba pdc with ldap backend setup problems
Greetings...
I'm struggling trying to set up a samba 3.0.23c PDC with ldap
backend. The server is Fedora 5, OpenLdap version 2.3.19-4.
I've got it so smbd and nmbd start properly and I can use a windows
box and see the domain using srvmgr.exe and usrmgr.exe. I'm then
able to signon from a windows XP computer with the command
net use \\pdcserver\ipc$ /user:root rootpassword

Multihome WINS Registration
I've got a bit of a problem, which is related to the problem I posted
yesterday. Samba is not registering the right address with the WINS
server, when it is on a multi-homed machine. The machine is on two
networks, like this:
Subnet A(128.173.188.0)

permissions not transferred using robocopy, xxcopy, net share migrate shares
Hello:
I've been working for a few days on getting a FreeBSD 5.3 server up and
running as a samba data backup server.
My goal is to schedule periodic backups of our file server. After reading
recommendations (e.g. by Mr. Terpstra) I've focused my attempts aroung
robocopy, xxcopy, net rpc share migrate shares.
However, I'm running into stumbling blocks that seem to involve a problem

Aliased interface/multi-smb on one machine + security = DOMAIN model
Hello all,
Have a little trouble here. I've got a single machine with multiple
instances of smb running attached to different services (for use with RedHat
HA). Each instances is bound to it's own aliased IP using the machine's
primary interface (eth0). I issue the `smbpasswd -j DOMAIN -r IP -c
/etc/samba/smb.conf.Apache -U admin%pass` and `smbpasswd -j DOMAIN -r IP -c

samba 4.4.14 breaks classic domain
Setting my domain controllers to use SMB2 breaks windows domain
authentication for Windows clients. I don't know why. The clients
in question are Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2.
Once I set the domain controllers and problem member server to
server max protocol = NT1
server min protocol = NT1
client max protocol = NT1
client min protocol = NT1

Migrating Profiles: Revisited
Hello everyone.
Well, i've tried to figure this out on my own by asking questions and
reading the how-to provided by John.
I've followed the directions accordingly, but there are a few catches i've
noticed that seem to be throwing me a curve or to.
Let me recap. Basically, i've setup our samba PDC with LDAP. I originally
was going to use roaming profiles, but decided against

AD-DC with DLZ using Bind9.16.x
I am using:
Ubuntu Server 20.04.1 LTS
Kernel 5.4.0-45-generic x86_x64
Samba 4.11.6-Ubuntu package
Bind9.16.1-Ubuntu package
I have been using Samba4 AD-DC with Bind 9 DLZ in production since beta4,
upgraded several times. (Great product. Awesome Samba team!) Previously I
have been installing Bind9 and Samba from source to get the "--with-dlopen"
option. Since this option and the

libxl: error: libxl_dm.c:1212:device_model_spawn_outcome: domain 1 device model: spawn failed (rc=-3) when creating VM using upstream qemu on Xen 4.2.
Hello,
I''ve tested Xen 4.2 on CentOS 6.3(x86_x64)
My goal is to connect to Windows VM on Xen 4.2 using SPICE client.
Installation of Xen 4.2 was successful.
Also creating Windows VM using qemu-dm and connecting to it using VNC are
OK.
But qemu-dm can''t support SPICE, so I installed upstream qemu. (

I also installed spice-server and

4.4.14 on solaris, using ads, can't read/write as user
On production, we have Samba share on Solaris and ADS config
working already using 3.6.25
On a dev box used to test patches, I've spent a day and
some time on a Oracle support ticket trying to get
this working again under 4.4.14
The same problem happens whether I'm testing with homes or a share with
/tmp.
The user isn't matching expectations, so it won't allow copying a 700 file
