security = ads --> invalide user
Hello I try to run SAMBA with security = ads on AIX 5.3 with SAMBA 3.0.23d. "net ads join" was successful and the machine is now visible in the Domain with the netbios name. When I try to access the shares on the machine the log.smbd files says: (...) Joining Samba4 to Win 2008 AD domain breaks other kerberos functions
I have a Windows 2008 domain (one Win 2008 DC, one Win 2012 R2 DC.) I am trying to join a Solaris 11 machine to the domain for both Samba and other services. For "unix" logins and ssh, Solaris 11 is configured to use LDAP for user and group lookup and kerberos for authentication. The "kclient -T ms_ad" command joins the Solaris machine to the AD domain. It even

Samba authentication using non-AD Kerberos?

So this is the state currently: kerberos setup (krb5.conf and keytab) is working in the server, I can do kinit properly. But

ADS and samba domain member: ads_connect: Cannot resolve network address for KDC in requested realm
Hello, I am having a problem getting my server to join our realm as a domain member server. I have read through google, yahoo, and this list, but I cannot find the answer yet. When I run: net join ads -Uadministrator and try to login it gives the following error: kerberos_kinit_password Administrator@MYREALM.COM failed: Cannot resolve network address for KDC in requested realm

System load problem with samba 4.4.2 caused by many ntlm auth client requests
Hello, since a while I experience a strange problem with my samba 4.4.2 running on a SLES12SP2 system. The server does what it is supposed to do, so users can work without any problems and access their files via smb but since some weeks the server shows a strange and unusual very high system load. The samba server is not the domaincrontroller (which is a windows machine) but member of the

ADS and samba domain member: ads_connect: Cannot resolve network address for KDC in requ
Thanks, Unfortunately, I still got the same error. I may be wrong, but it is like it does the automatic lookup process of kdc instead of using the krb5.conf file. However, as per my note below, if I do add bad config info to the krb5.conf, it does complain. sgid bit set on ordinary files mounted via smbfs
Hi, I find that files (not directories) in an smbfs-mounted share always have the sgid bit set. I've looked in the FAQ and HOWTO but didn't see anything. I wonder if someone might suggest a way to fix it. The share is served from Windows 2003 SP2 and mounted on a Fedora 10 Linux machine (samba-client-3.2.5-0.23.fc10.i386) with this command line: mount //wcl-fp1/shared /mnt/shared -t

Authentication problems with win2k3 domain controller
Hi I'm having problems with samba-3.0.21b and Windows Server 2003 domain controllers. When I try to access the samba server from a client (\\sambasrv) I only get a login prompt, no username/password combination works. Accessing the samba server through its IP-number instead of using the netbios name works. This together with the log message "Failed to verify incoming ticket!"

SGID bit not obeyed in 4.3.9?
We just upgraded to 4.3.9 (from 4.1.x) and are experiencing a few issues/differences around permissions on files written from Windows clients authenticated from winbind/AD. One specific issue that we have is directories with permissions like: drwxrws---+ 9 myapp 9997 2048 May 16 17:38 . It's owned by user "myapp" and GID 9997 and as you can see we have the SGID bit set on this

SGID bit in Samba 2.0.7
Hello, we use the SGID bit on Solaris for directories to force setting the given group from the directories above (not the primary group). If we create directories with Samba 2.0.7, the SGID bit will not set on the new directory. With Samba 2.0.6 and below all worked fine. Is there a work around or a bug fix available? Thx Sincerly yours Jochen Duemmel PS: we use Samba for a server

scp bug: newly created dirs do not inherit sgid bit
Dear developers, I discovered that directories created by scp when recursive copying into a sgid directory do not inherit the sgid bit. I believe this is a bug. A patch to fix this is attached. bad error message? .. main.c code 23 .. caused by sgid on dir
This is to suggest a possible improvement in an error message. On a recent rsync transfer I see a message like > rsync: failed to set permissions on ".../somedir": Permission denied (13) for several dirs that have the sgid bit set There seems to be a retry pass, because all the messages are repeated. And then there is (perhaps a summary) line > rsync error: some files could not
