Hai,
I've created the samba Debian Stretch packages and are available through my apt.
This wil make Debian Jessie to Stretch upgrade more easy if you use my packages.
More info at : apt.van-belle.nl and in short:
- use stretch-backports if you want the current debian testing (buster) packages. (debian 4.6.5-2) ( No changes make to packages, a one on one rebuild )

Smbclient cant transer large files
Well, apparently there WAS a change on the Windows Server, which only affected new samba versions
I was able to fix my issue by using this patch: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12776
Can this be officially fixed please?

Idmap config Samba 4 NT4-style domain
Hello,
I have a server with an NT4-style domain an Samba 4.2.14+dfsg-0+deb8u5.
The samba uses an LDAP backend and all is fine so far.
Samba users start at uid 1005 (it's not good I know but it's historical)
Domain Users Group has UID 513.
Now my Problem:
The winbind log is full of

Thanks for the link. Could be sufficient to use 'backported' samba

Too many references: cannot splice
Hi,
A while ago I sent an email regarding these "*ETOOMANYREFS* Too many
references: cannot splice." that we've seen since Debian updated the Jessie
kernel to
3.16.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.16.7-ckt20-1+deb8u3 (2016-01-17) x86_64
while older kernels, like 3.16.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian
3.16.7-ckt11-1+deb8u6 (2015-11-09) x86_64 showed no errors at all.
I was wondering if no one

v2.2.27 Panic: file rfc822-parser.h: line 23 (rfc822_parser_deinit): assertion failed: (ctx->data <= ctx->end)
Hi,
I've been having an issue with the indexer giving me errors on mailbox
in dovecot.
I managed to narrow it down to a specific email in that mailbox.
Various dovecot functions have issues with this email.
The email itself is just spam. I can email it to you if you want to
analyse it. I did run it through mbox-anonymize but its not clear to me
that that would be of any use. Happy to email

Samba + spotlight/tracker
I'm currently using the standard Samba 4.5.8 on Debian 9.1, but would like
to have spotlight support for Mac users. As far as I can tell, the standard
package isn't compiled with spotlight support, so I will need to compile it
myself.
Is there an easy way to know what the configure string was that was used to
compile the packaged version? I simply want to add the --enable-spotlight
flag

samba430-jessie script question
Forgive me if this questions has been dealt with recently as I have been
on a vacation/holiday and have not kept current with list activity.
While building a VM with "setup-samba430-Jessie.sh" I notice that Debian
'experimental' is now (pulling) samba-4.3.1+dfsg-1 version. The script
is not running correctly as (obviously) the patches are for
samba-4.3.0+dfsg packages.

Classic upgrade and forced password change...
I'm doing some test moving from a NT domain to ad AD domain, using
debian jessie samba (4.2) and obviously the 'classicupgrade' procedure.
In my setup i use(d) extensively some script to reset password to
users. I was (ab)used to have 'smbpasswd' behave differently if
executed by root, eg change the password without taking in
consideration password policy and check password
