AD integration: "getent passwd" can't see *new* users, but "wbinfo -u" can
I have two different systems (on different networks) showing this behavior. Both are running Ubuntu Dapper/606.1 LTS with samba version 3.0.22 and windows 2003 sp1 servers (not R2). AD integration is done via winbind, with nss using winbind. At some point in time (which is unknown to me), the samba server stopped seeing new users, groups, machines which are added to AD. scenario: I add a new

wbinfo -u and -g work, getent passwd works, getent group DOES NOT WORK
Hi, I'm trying to get some Ubuntu8.04 clients to authenticate to an Ubuntu8.04 Samba domain controller. Everyone is running Samba 3.0.28a. Side question: should I upgrade to 3.2? Keep in mind that means finding binaries for ubuntu or compiling from source for a server and 20 clients. Basically wbinfo -u and -g work, getent passwd works, getent group DOES NOT WORK. My domain is called

Hi all, I have an Samba + LDAP PDC and BDC setup with a trust to an NT 4 domain. I am using Samba 3.0.21c on Sles 9. HRH is the Samba domain and Hendricks is the NT4 domain. When using getent passwd and/or wbinfo -u on the pdc all of the users from both domains are listed: getent passwd: <snip>HRH users: njcloud:x:1034:1014:System User:/home/njcloud:/bin/bash acrardi:x:1035:513:System

wbinfo -u works, getent passwd doesn't, not nsswitch.conf
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I have a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.4 box running on the PPC64 platform. It has been configured as a domain member. I installed RHEL4.4 by selecting a minimal install and when completed, manually added the "samba" and "samba-common" packages. I modified the smb.conf to make it a domain member, successfully joined the domain

wbinfo -u lists ADS users without domain, getent passwd returns only local users
I'm using Samba/Winbind for single-sign on in a network where Active Directory is the authoritative authentication source. The active directory server is Windows 2003 with Services for Unix installed so that the schema is extended and the management interface has a "Unix Attributes" tab. wbinfo -u produces a list of users, without a DOMAIN+ prefix. getent passwd lists only

"Wbinfo -u" get user account sucessfully but "getent passwd" fails
Hi everybody, I got a problem here with my Samba ADS member server. It functions as a file server and works for a long time. A few weeks ago our Active Directory domain controller failed due to power outage. We fixed it and now an employee reports that he could not use the samba file server any more. I restarted samba service and did the following testing: 1) getent passwd <thisUser>

Domain member seems to work, wbinfo -u not
Hello everyone,   any ideas on why a newly installed domain member (w2k8 domain) might seem to work fine in every test (wbinfo -g, wbinfo -t, getent group, wbinfo -n username, getent passwd user, share-access.., ) but only enumeration of users with wbinfo -u and getent passwd fail? wbinfo -u just returns without any output and getent passwd just shows the default centos7 users.   Even with

Domain member seems to work, wbinfo -u not (update3)
Ok some new info. Yesterday file server worked, print server not. Today, both dont work. Same test today, proxy1 and proxy2. Proxy1 didnt work, proxy2 did ( at that time 4.3.6) I upgraded (to 4.3.8) proxy2, tested again, still working. Ok, now this proxy 2 is an vm ( a copy of proxy1 ), so lets try something.. I remove proxy2 from the ad domain (proxy1 is our main proxy) so this one is

wbinfo -u works, getent passwd doesn't (samba 3.0.22 and 3.0.23rc1)
Hi, I am having problems getting winbind working properly on an x86_64 server here. wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g work fine, as with wbinfo -a, but when I try to use getent passwd, I only get local accounts. Here is the relevant part of my nsswitch.conf: passwd: files winbind shadow: files winbind group: files winbind Here is my smb.conf: [global] workgroup = XXXX netbios name
