Problems with samba and profile syncing from various windows versions
Thanks for pointing this out. I have read that again, now my profiles do not have "vfs objects = full_audit" and disabled the csc policy. I have verified that I have set up my profiles share properly and that it has all the right entitlements. I have reset the entitlements for the users that have issues (as Administrator right click on the folder and do the dance there with Windows).

kerberos got crazy after ubuntu upgrade from 14.04 to 16.04
Hi! I had to upgrade my PDC from 14.04 to 16.04 Ubuntu. The samba version stayed the same, but then some crazy miracles started to happen. 4.3.11+dfsg-0ubuntu0.16.04.6 I cannot log in now with my Windows machines, yet I can view the files on Linux using smbclient. My smb.conf [global] workgroup = Gsomething realm = BIURO.domain netbios name = PDC security = auto

Samba-wiki info about profiles and SYSTEM account.
Hai, I just saw the new site for the profiles :-) didnt notice that. Looks nice. Now i saw the link to : https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/The_SYSTEM_Account This is very very disturbing.... Especially these lines: "The SYSTEM account is never sent to a remote host to authenticate and for this reason never used to access a remote file system" "For this reasons, you can

4.3.11-Ubuntu fail to add DC to a AD domain
yes, I tried working with samba wiki and quad-verifying what is recommended to be checked. OK, I'll try to join using 18.04. the samba_dnsupdate tool does not have the --use-samba-tool option in ubuntu 16.04 2018-04-25 22:47 GMT+02:00 Rowland Penny via samba <samba at lists.samba.org>: > On Wed, 25 Apr 2018 22:32:10 +0200 > Jakub Kulesza <jakkul+samba at gmail.com> wrote:

administrator does not have permission
While attempting to check 'profiles' user permissions on my member server I discovered that (for some reason) I did not have a krb5.conf file (on member.) Resolved that issue. Then find that the keytab file is missing. Fixed that. I wanted to check profile user permissions and have discovered that the administrator does not have permission to "view or edit this object's

Problems with samba and profile syncing from various windows versions
Hai, Why use time.windows.com, are you pc's not domain joined? Because if they are join you sync time with the AD DC(s) throught the AD by default. Works here Win 7 32/64bit up to win 10 32/64bit build 1607. Setup the following, on you DC's. Setup ntp and configure ntp.conf The go here and choose a stratum 1 ntp server. ( more curate )

Domain Logout, then domain login again, profile corrupt -> replaced by TEMP profile
Hi I have had this problem for a while, but waited to post this until I upgraded to see whether the upgrade would fix it. I upgraded samba to the 4.2.X stream from 3.6.X stream, but it happens on both, 3.6.X and 4.2.10. Whenever someone logs out, then in again the profile gets corrupted and a new TEMP profile is created (the dreadful "creating new desktop"). Now I do not know where

VT-d support in haswell mainboards and CPUs
Hi! I wanted to post this to Xen WIKI, but I have no write rights there. I have talked to AsRock support, and they said, that: - all Z87, H87, Q87 and B85 asrock mainboards support vt-d, - you have to check if vt-d is supported by the CPU, - there are no information on vt-d support in future haswell mainboard chipsets, like H81. I''m willing to test it, when I get hands on

Dovecot on different server than MTA
Hi, I'm setting up our new mail system using dovecot as mailbox server. As our goal is to have many many small redundant (virtual) servers as components, for example a mailhub (just relaying mail) and a frontend smtp server (just accepting or denying mail in the first place and then forwarding it to the mailhub), etc. I want to run Dovecot on a different server than the main MTAs. The mailbox
