Dir ACL through windows and chmod
Thank you, but this did nothing. Users from group 'g02' can access folder '01'. But this folder has ACL set up only for group 'g01' > You could investigate using 'access based share enum = yes' > > and setting the permissions from Windows, see here: > > https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_Share_Using_Windows_ACLs > > You will

samba 4 joining samba 3 pdc - group mismatch
Hi all Background: I am not a samba expert, not even close! I have a ancient samba 3 (Server role: ROLE_DOMAIN_PDC) and I intend to migrate all files to a samba 4 (Server role: ROLE_DOMAIN_MEMBER) Users will stay in S3 for now. Samba 4 joined samba 3 with no problems. I rsync'ed all files and its permissions (rsync -a ...). But... I cannot find a way that makes S4 sees S3 users and groups

Hi, aLL Using Samba-4.3.5 as a AD-member - fileserver. It's running in OpenVZ container (ProxMox VE). Domain is also build on Samba-4.3.5 (another VM). Fileserver's VM is mounted with acl, user_xattr options, Samba compiled with ACL support. There're domain users, for example, "usr1", "usr2". They're in domain group "dg1". There's a filepath

Samba 4.6.2 does not inherit setgid bit (anymore)
thanks for suggestion, in other words you use only ACLs for users denying all for groups, unfortunately we had many group such as domain users, secretary, finance, etc belonging to users for which we need to apply at least 770 in order to gain a simplified permission management using groups the actual dirty workaround I applied was to track new files/dir by tailing with follow ( tail -f ) a

Samba 4.6.2 does not inherit setgid bit (anymore)
Hi Lorenzo and Dale, My setup is like Lorenzo's completely based on setgid being propagated. The filesystem should determine the group used starting at a certain directory. Different "root" directories have different groups, and security is based on groups, not users. I tried all sorts of settings combinations, alseo "force directory mode = 2770", but none propagates

Can only access new SAMBA fileshare from Windows as privileged user SAMDOM/Administrator, not as an ordinary user.
Hi there, I wonder if anyone can help me? I recently created an active directory setup with a primary domain controller ad1 and secondary domain controller ad2 for a domain SAMDOM. In-line with what I understand to be Samba best practices I then setup a separate file-server fs1 on which I created a file share, /fsrv/shares/OgdenFiles/. This has all been done using Samba version
