JPG issue
Ok, it's taken me a while, but here's what seems to be the problem. In OSX I see a lock on the file. If that lock is ON, it disappears. But what is that lock and where did it come from.... Is it like a read only lock? On Thu, Mar 30, 2017 at 11:04 AM Curtis Vaughan <cavaughan at gmail.com> wrote: > Ok, here's what seems to be going on. When a JPG is put into a share it >

You have the setting on to HIDE files that can't be written to. Try turning that off. Next, investigate why it's causing the files to get 540 permissions instead of 740 (or other). Ok, here's what seems to be going on. When a JPG is put into a share it inherits permissions of 540. When I chmod it to 740 it appears in file browsers. So the file is actually there, but invisible. But I've tried other files and everything else copies over with 740. Again, why? On Thu, Mar 30, 2017 at 10:56 AM Curtis Vaughan <cavaughan at gmail.com> wrote: > [global] > >

Enable Recycling
So I've added the following information to my smb.conf in the general section based off various information on the internet, but primarily from here: http://timtrott.co.uk/enabling-recycle-bin-functionality-samba/ Nonetheless when I delete files from any shares they are not sent to Recycling. What am I missing? # Enable Recycling vfs objects = full_audit recycle recycle:repository =

samba log question
Ubuntu 16.04 Server with Samba 4.3.9 All the shares are working fine. None of the users are experiencing any issues, but I see in the logs the following over and over: [2016/07/12 10:06:03.972792, 0] ../source3/param/loadparm.c:32 59(process_usershare_file) process_usershare_file: stat of /var/lib/samba/usershares/10.0.1.zip failed. HTTP blocked?
I just installed CentOS 5 and put ZoneMinder on it. Everything seems to be working fine, except I can't access the web pages from a remote computer, even if it's on the same LAN. If I lynx to the webpage from the server itself the web page comes up. I checked iptables and there doesn't seem to be any block there. There is no firewall within my LAN that would block port 80. Any other

recycle on a fileserver domain member
Thanks for your answer Rowland, I fix this problem. I had not put writing permission to the "domain users". Http://i.imgur.com/oLXS0Kn.png In the image above I show the permissions of the recycle folder. They are correct? Do I need to have these 3 entries below in my smb.conf? recycle:directory_mode = 0700 recycle:subdir_mode = 0700 recycle:inherit_nt_acl = Yes On Tue, Jun 13, 2017

Wine bottle management
I found a nice program to add bottle management to wine in Linux. It wasn't mentioned in the wiki on third party apps, so I added it. But since it wasn't already there, I guess it was not commonly known, so that why I mention it here too. Worthwhile to check out. http://wibom.sourceforge.net/

Mail marked read upon download
Just set up a new server with postfix and dovecot. I don't know why, but as soon as mail is accessed it is marked read. I'll see emails momentarily marked unread, but then switch to read later although I haven't opened them. This has never been an issue before. Any ideas why? Thanks. Curtis

3.0 question
Finally, 3.0 stable is out and I have a question! Currently, the PDC (if we might say) is a RedHat 8.0 Server with Samba 2.2.8. Another Win file server is a Debian server with Samba 2.2.3 (I think). Anyhow, I want to give 3.0 a go in our organization, but I don't want to update the RedHat server - yet. So, my question is this, can I take advantage of 3.0 by updating the Debian server,

lots of outdated docs
Hi, The web page https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/ must be from the last millenium, it offers a "tarball of the daily docs build" of version 3.3 The manpage for vfs_recycle is even worse, it says: "This man page is correct for version 3.0.25 of the Samba suite." Is there a chance that we can get man pages which describe all options of samba 4.2? Specifically I was looking

Samba Permissions
I just installed samba on my private home network. It looks like I only have read access to shares. Using swat, I changed the create, security, and directory mask to 777, and committed the changes. But I still can't write. Can someone tell me what I did wrong?

Atlantica Online
Hello, I've just moved to Ubuntu 11.04. I always reinstall the whole OS instead of upgrading. But now I've got the problem that I can't get Atlantica Online to work. It worked on Ubuntu 10.10 though. I installed the new version (the Nexon one) and then tried the web launcher, but that didn't work. Then I went to the Atlantica directory and launched AtlanticaRun.exe, then I get to

Samba 4 permissions error
Hello guys. I have a Zentyal 4.2 server which runs Samba 4.3.5 and ACLs for every share. It's currently working fine, no isssues, everyone can access their folders without problems. I've built a Samba 4.3.5 server in a different host which is not a Zentyal server. I've configured this 2nd server as DC. Once a day I run a script to synchronize all shares from my Zentyal to this Samba

newbie graphics question: Two density plots in same frame ?
I swear I've scoured the help files and several texts before posting what feels like a dumb newbie question. How can I draw two kernel density plots in the same frame ? I have similar variables in two separate data frames, and I would like to show their two histograms/densities in a single picture. Same units, scale, range for both, so I'm simply trying to draw one and then add the

multi-page printing moving on
I have some nice forms done using stylesheets. I currently have them displaying on screen and the user could simply just print. This works when there is only one form (facility) to be viewed/printed. I have created the looping code necessary to print for all facilities but that doesn''t work for me because each page uses stylesheets with <div> that do absolute positioning and thus
