If you have "follow symlinks" In you smb.conf Try removing it, or set it to "follow symlinks = yes" And see what happens. At least these are affected. Winbind idmap partially fails to load attributes with 4.6.7 (Ubuntu 17.10)
Greetings, All! I'm stumbled upon an event I can't understand. Rolled out a new Ubuntu 17.10 box in preparation for eventual 18.04 launch and… it just does not fly. Here's a brief and apparent summary of the problem: $ smbd -V; getent passwd anrdaemon Version 4.3.11-Ubuntu (14.04, 16.04) anrdaemon:*:10000:10001:Andrey Repin,,,,umask=0027:/home/anrdaemon:/bin/bash Version

LDAP/PDC migration to Samba4
Greetings, All! I'm planning a migration to Samba 4 (for a long time, I admit, but I only recently got a promise of funds for a new server... whew...), but I'm a little in the dark on how to arrange whole process. Right now, the situation is imagined as follows: Server A: LDAP/PDC/Samba3/NAT/DHCP/BIND/everything else. Server B: New installation, x86_64, Samba4, would-be-replacement for

pam_winbind vs. pam_ldap ?
Greetings, All! I'm using Samba 3.6 and OpenLDAP currently. The core configuration has been done eons ago, and I'm not quite sure it is actual any more. I see a number of PAM-related errors every time the system boot up. One concerning me is Jan 28 02:31:21 daemon1 perl: pam_ldap: error trying to bind as user "uid=root,ou=Users,dc=darkdragon,dc=lan" (Invalid credentials) Is this

hardware sizing and configuration
Hello Andrey, I am testing a small AD DC setup with 65 users and would like to know if you've had stable experience with running DC and File Server on one server. My test server is Dell Poweredge 2950 with SAS hard drives and 16 GB RAM. So far everything runs normally with no high load and similar I/O on samba ports compared to the old standalone Samba 3 server I will be replacing. Thank

Time synchronization issue
Hi, I have set a Samba AD DC on my network. Version is 4.1.17 on a Debian Wheezy. I have an issue on my Windows XP SP3 clients : the time on these computers is not synchronized with my Domain Controler. Big problem is, if time difference is considerable (more or less 5 minutes), users can not log in. On the other hand, my server is correctly synchronized with NTP server. I don't
