Error in https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/User_Home_Folders
Hi all,
can I freely create an account for the Wiki and do changes? Or should I notify someone (Rowland)?
I found a small error in https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/User_Home_Folders . The wiki mentions as rights on the share Read and Execute for Authenticated Users, but on that level I see only Full Control, Change and Read. My assumption is that it should be Change and Read for Authenticated

Missing security tab samba 4.1.13
Hi all,
I followed the installation instructions on https://imanudin.net/2014/11/16/how-to-install-samba4-active-directory-on-centos-7-part-1/#comment-16611 to install Samba 4.1.13. One difference is that I used the Internal DNS server as opposed to the external one.
I was able to add a Windows 7 Pro workstation to the domain and I see the shares I added in smb.conf (with only the path and

LDAP logins failing after installing Samba 4.4.5
Hi all,
I had an LDAP application (mailserver) running on Samba 4.1.3 which wrked flawlessly. Also using an LDAP browser with a simple bind worked OK.
I than replaced the Samba installation with version 4.5 and the LDAP functionality broke. I first thought it had to do with a non-SSL or non -TLS and though I now get an error message when doing a simple bind without encryption, activating

[Samba 4.5] Very slow LDAP Queries (almost unusable), performance tunning ?
Hi,
I talked to Zarafa (Kopano now) support and they acknowledge that their product in combination with Samba does not scale welland is only suitable for what they call smaller setups.
Met Vriendelijke Groet,
Kind Regards,
Salutations,

No more sessions available' / channels not closing issue
Hi all,
We've run into a curious issue.
We run CentOS 6.5 with openssh installed (OpenSSH_5.3p1, OpenSSL 1.0.1e-fips 11 Feb 2013 by default). We connect to this server through sftp (Subsystem sftp internal-sftp) using the java JSch library. When opening many sftp channels on a single ssh session OpenSsh does not seem to release the sftp channels closed from the client side when there are

this command works against MS AD's LDAP

Upgrading SAMBA from 4.2.2 to 4.2.13
Hey everyone
Have a (relatively) old CentOS SAMBA4 Active Directory running version
4.2.2, time to upgrade to the latest in the 4.2 series.
As it's running as a VM on ESXI I have it backed up by VEEAM and I can take
a snapshot before making any changes.
Any major items to be aware of before upgrading to 4.2.13? Any reason I
should not perhaps be looking a bit further to the 4.4.x

This is strange, don't think I have ever had this problem.

Active directory and winbind RID/SID to uid and gid maping across several linux servers
We are using a windows server 2003 active directory as our single sign
on server. I have been able to get our RHEL4U6 servers to authenticate
with active directory.
My concern is that the RID mapping to unix uid/gid range (15000-20000)
is stored locally on each machine in a tdb database. So far all of the
servers have produced the same mapping, but I do not think it is
guarantied. I think the

[Samba 4.5] Very slow LDAP Queries (almost unusable), performance tunning ?
Can you tell more about your setup?
Is zarafa and samba on the same server for example.
Which MTA are you using postfix/exim?
My top was about 150 users, and all my printers are connected also so about 200 devices do ldap searches.
but my setup is split over 10+ servers ( 2 are AD DC )
So best is to tell what you can about your setup, anonimize if needed.

WINXP Profiles
I have a problem with samba 2.2.7a which is configured as a PDC for two
Windows XP Profesional workstations.
I'am working with roaming profiles for the winxp machines.
My problem is, when I reboot a winxp machine my roaming profile becomes
a local profile. When I don't reboot the winxp machine roaming stays
roaming.
This is my smb.conf configuration.
The linux machine is a ConnecTUX
