Upgrade from 4.2.10 Sernet packages to 4.4.2 selfcompiled
Hi,
is there a "How to" for upgrading a DC from 4.2.10 Sernet packages to
Samba 4.4.2 self compiled on a debian system?
I think there are two options?
Replace the sernet file:
1. Compile Samba
(https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Build_Samba_from_source) with the
paths given by smbd -b
2. make install
But what happens to the sernet packages/repository handled by the
package manager?

starting stoping samba 4.11
Hai,
Im understanding why this is going like it is..
We really need to change/update some wiki pages.
TP, did read (assuming)
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Build_Samba_from_Source
Or
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Waf
Somewhere at the end, we should need to add whats next.

Problem compiling Samba from source
Hi,
It's taken me ages to get past teh compile dependencies and having to
build most of the dependencies from source. I then ran make and within
a few short compilations the samba3 make fails with the following
errors:
~/samba-3.5.5/source3> make
Using CFLAGS = -I../lib/zlib -I/app/utils//include -O -I.

Compile samba github code and flash the build binary to embedded device
Hi Sir/Madam/Miss,
I am a firmware engineer. I would like to implement file sharing between
embedded device and android phone/ios phone/windows.
I download the samba source code from
https://github.com/samba-team/samba/tree/v4-11-stable with version
v4-11-stable.
I follow the instruction from link :
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Build_Samba_from_Source to compile.

new DC via clone..
in an attempt to analyze the misbehaviour of my clone I compiled samba (version 4.19.7) from sources, following https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Build_Samba_from_Source#make.
When I entered "make install" however, it started a new compile/link with even more sources [yy/5891] after compilation of preceeding make succeeded [xx/4536]. This is not what I expected to happen - imho install
