Time sync not working with Windows 10
After our office upgraded to Windows 10, time sync stopped working with the Windows
workstations. This used to work fine with Windows 7 and still works with linux domain members
(although that's not surprising).
The Windows 10 workstations ended up operating off the CMOS clock. We didn't notice this for a long
time since the CMOS clock drift is slow, but after several months users started

Time server on AD DC in an LXD container.
After reading the instructions at
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Time_Synchronisation, I still have
questions about how samba interacts with nptd.
The issue is that LXD doesn't want containers setting the time and so won't
start ntpd at container startup even though it's enabled in systemd. The
host does sync it's time with a national time server, so we can assume that

Time synchronization issues in Samba 4
Hi,
I configured my NTP server in samba 4 according to the article "
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Time_Synchronisation" however I verified
that the NTP server does not respond to requests from Windows NTPv3
clients, it only responds to NTPv4.
Following my ntp.conf:
# /etc/ntp.conf, configuration for ntpd; see ntp.conf(5) for help
driftfile /var/lib/ntp/ntp.drift

Problem with Samba 4.2/FreeBSD10.1
Hi Everyone, my first foray into Samba and AD both.
Not sure if this is an OS or configuration problem. I've found similar
issues, but nothing either recent enough (is related to samba 3) or close
enough.
FreeBSD-10.1-RELENG, Samba 4.2.2.
I have the domain provisioned as rfc2307
I have joined a Win7-virtual machine to the domain
I have created a new user with ADUC
I have assigned 10000 to

Time server on AD DC in an LXD container.
Further investigations reveal:

C:\WINDOWS\system32> w32tm /monitor
GetDcList failed with error code: 0x800706BA.
Exiting with error 0x800706BA

error 0x800706BA indicates that the RPC server is unavailable.
Any ideas?

Samba 4 ad client not syncing time
Hello folks
I've deployed Samba 4.0.26 using Sernet binary packages and running on active directory mode , everything works fine except that client machines don't sync time with server , ntp_signd is enabled in smb.conf , Ntpd is installed and running , is there anyway to debug this functionality on Samba ?

Problems with samba and profile syncing from various windows versions
Hai,
Why use time.windows.com, are you pc's not domain joined?
Because if they are join you sync time with the AD DC(s) throught the AD by default.
Works here Win 7 32/64bit up to win 10 32/64bit build 1607.
Setup the following, on you DC's.
Setup ntp and configure ntp.conf
The go here and choose a stratum 1 ntp server. ( more curate )

Questions about time synchronisation in a multi-DC Samba environment
Hi All,
I am currently running a setup with a main DC ad1, that has ntpd
installed and is currently configured to retrieve the time from the UK
NTP time pool. I also have a second backup AD DC, ad2, on which I have
not installed ntpd but I have installed ntpdate. My current
understanding is that the setup I have just described is in-line with
the recommended best practices outlined in the

AD DC in a container: NTP
I’m currently trying to install a new (primary) AD DC in a Linux container. It seems to me that being in a container, the DC is easier to maintain and backup than on bare metal, and I prefer a container over a VM for performance reasons. If the container setup will prove to be too much of hassle, I’ll switch to a VM, though.
The first issue I’m facing is time synchronization. An container cannot

Running Samba 3 in a FreeBSD jail
Hello,
I've been trying to get a solution (or at least an explanation) from the FreeBSD guys
at freebsd-questions lists, but I guess no one knew the answer.
I am trying to run Samba 3 (latest) in a FreeBSD 7.0 jail
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FreeBSD_Jail). It seems I cannot convince Samba to answer
NetBIOS broadcast requests and therefore Windows machines cannot browse it directly
by name

characters or less, without punctuation.
