Fw: re. win32-process
Hi all, Any ideas for the question below? I know how to do this in theory - make the ''inherit'' flag true, and set the ''stdout'' and ''stderr'' startf_flags hash options to something in the startup_info hash, but I wasn''t sure how to do this in practice. It would be nice if the answer could be something like this: require

"file not found" under high-contention
Hello, For several years I've been experiencing an intermittent Samba error when running a very intense, highly parallel build/compile jobset. A file is reported as "not found" even though it most certainly exists and re-running the compile jobset always succeeds. Samba version is 3.6.4 running on CentOS 5.8 with 64-bit kernel 2.6.18-308.4.1.el5. Windows side is 64-bit Window

trying to create a WinNT rescue disk
I have probably a rather unusual problem. I have a computer with WinNT already installed on it, plus RedHat7.2, and would like to try and create a repair disk for the WinNT install (I'm no longer able to boot NT, though I have no problem starting the NT bootloader - after I choose Windows NT 4.0 and it starts to boot, I get a BSOD with reference to being unable to access the bootloader (which

ZwXX functions
Hi all, I noticed that some of the Zw functions would be very handy to use. While they''re exported by NTDLL, it seems they''re part of the Windows Driver Kit, and those headers don''t ship with Visual C++ by default. Or do they? I don''t have them with Visual C++ 8 anyway. What I''m mainly after is the ZwQueryInformationFile for use with File::Stat, so I

Set Term Frequency for a Query
Hello, I have a problem when trying to define a query and setting for each term its "term frequency" with the classical constructor Xapian::Query<http://xapian.org/docs/apidoc/html/classXapian_1_1Query.html#f396e213df0d8bcffa473a75ebf228d6>(const std::string &tname_,

Merge databases
Dear all, I try to use the xapian-compact tool to merge several databases. I need to keep the document ID. The problem is that xapian-compact is not able to merge databases because of overlapping "doc ID range". Nevertheless, in my case, a doc ID is always used for one and only one database. Is there a (other) clever way to simply and quickly merge databases ? Regards 2011/3/7

install.packages hangs RGui with frozen rpwd process at bottom of process tree (PR#13734)
Full_Name: Allan Stokes Version: 2.8.1 OS: XP Submission from: (NULL) (24.108.0.245) I've just spent a hellish six hours trying to create my own R package with a bare bones "hello world" R function inside. I was able to create a package.tar.gz file eventually with much perseverance. My remaining problem is that when I try to install my simple package under RGui, it hangs.

Performance: FASTIO_CHECK_IF_POSSIBLE win32 call differs on Linux / SunOS [LONG]
Hello, I'am having huge performance problems using a application on win32 which uses alot of .DBF files. The app uses *alot* of small file reads, varying between 20-512 bytes per read. On Windows there is something, only just learned this, called fastio. This fastio acts like a cache because it reads-ahead 4096-bytes even if you want to have 1 single byte. Ok, that's all nice _but_
