RNDC errors using SAMBA_INTERNAL_DNS
Hi,
I installed the dependencies direct from the Debian/Ubuntu pre-reqs on
the samba wiki here:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Operating_system_requirements/Dependencies_-_Libraries_and_programs#Debian_.2F_Ubuntu
Then just a straight forward configure with no options as per this page:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Build_Samba_from_source
Everything seems to work it (joining domains,

RNDC errors using SAMBA_INTERNAL_DNS
Hi all,
I've set up a simple domain using Samba 4.4.2 from source under Ubuntu
16.04.
I accepted the usual defaults and basically followed wiki.samba.org to
the letter. The main thing is I'm using Samba's internal DNS and not
Bind (Bind is not even installed on the system).
In the log.samba file on the first DC I kept getting this:

drs failed on version 4.1.0rc2: RID Manager failed RID allocation - WERR_BADFILE
I installed samba as an AD as described on the wiki and set up replication
as described on the wiki.
I checked and users are not replicated.
I am getting the following messages

Unable to rejoin domain, LDAP error 50
Hi,
This is strange what you are writing. Are you saying, that if Administrator is in Domain Users group = ALL my users have admins rights? Hard to believe.
Moreover, I'm unable to delete Administrator from Domain Users group, as this is my basic group (I received such an info).
I believe the keytab is needed to sth, cause without it I keep receiving:

Samba 4.8 RODC not working
Hi,
Thank your for your answers.
@Rowland: Yes, Winbind is installed but it seems it is not started (or cannot start)
@Andrew: Please find extract in log level 4 during a service restart and a connection test with smbclient from another machine. I hope this could help, this is not clear to me :

Error Message while joining a Domain as a DC
I joined an existing domain according to:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO/Join_a_domain_as_a_DC
My var/log.samba shows the following error message ... and
unfortunately ... I have no idea what that means.

replPropertyMetaData & KCC issues after updating to Samba 4.5.0
I would have assumed that deleting all the NTDS connections for all the
DCs would have remedied this issue. I'll write a patch to try to avoid
this error in any case.
Ignoring this error and answering your earlier question, it's often hard
to tell if the KCC is doing what is expected or not. To figure that out,
you need a lot more information about the network topology
configuration,
