Samba 4.0.7 PANIC invalid lock_order
Dear all, I'm struggling to get samba 4.0.7 working as a file server. I'm using mac osx 10.8.4 with Excel for Mac 2011 (14.3.6). I'm able to create a new Spreadsheet and to save it with a new name. I'm also able to read it. When I open it and change a few cells, I cant't save it. I have to save it with a new name. I found these lines in log file: 2013/07/23 15:27:12.407416,

Hi Rowland, Thanks for taking the time to look at this. I will post the log 10 output a bit later. Btw, what logs with log level 10 are you interested in? Here’s my samba config with sensitive info replaced with placeholders: [global] access based share enum = yes browseable = yes comment = <COMMENT> create mask = 0660 directory mask =

The share actually comes from an include file. I made it look like it’s part of the main config for simplicity. > It also doesn't help that everything > that is in [global] is also in the share. It’s

segfault with failed to set uid
Hi, I having intermittent problems which trigger the below segfault. Would love to know what the problem is, and will gladly take any suggestions as to how to troubleshoot this. When this segfault happen, the windows clients sometimes report "write delay failed". This machine is an OpenVZ virtual machine, with a bridged interface. Dangling MS Access DB Lock Files *.ldb
I have an intermittent problem with dangling MS Access DB lock files. In a productive environment with N batch queus (each on a separate Windows XP Professional) a scheduler PC dispatches the work load to a free queue by means of modifying a simple MS Access DB file called "PRIM.mdb", which resides on a Samba 3.0.20 share. Each free queue PC polls the same MS Access DB file every 60

hangin when listing named pipes
Hi Even when you are not opening the pipe, but just listing it in cygwin, or trying to see the properties in explorer, you will have this problem: Does anybody know how to disable named pipes in samba? Or how you can kill the connection from the client side? And no, setting "nt pipe support" to no, doesn't fix the problem. /Kaj Symptom: Samba daemon hanging when trying to open

Problems with Excel & MS Word files (still)
Problem is apparently with locking issues, disabled oplocks in the [general] section, and the problem actually got worse... Here's what happens: User-A part of group1, opens Excel file off of share, saves, exits... User-B (or even User-A for that matter) tries to re-open same file, get error stating it's locked and can only open for read-only access... Both users in the same group, and

Desktop.ini (part) solution
Aha! Although I'm not an everyday samba programmer, I have found a descrepancy between a windows code snippet running on a windows server, and on a samba (2.2.7a, but also earlier) systems. This causes the dreaded Desktop.ini problem (yay!) and probably some others too! The test code in windows: #include "stdafx.h" #include <windows.h> int main(int argc, char* argv[]) {
