Samba AD - "No logon servers available"
Hi Rowland, Samba server was demoted, but it was 4.5.x. Latest one from Ubuntu 16.04 repos. Windows DC's are 2012 R2 and clients vary from 7 to 10, still same problem. Thanks! -----Original Message----- From: samba [mailto:samba-bounces at lists.samba.org] On Behalf Of Rowland Penny via samba Sent: 29 de dezembro de 2016 16:25 To: samba at lists.samba.org Subject: Re: [Samba] Samba AD -

Problem to join a windows XP
Hi, I'm not able to join a windows XP machine in samba AD DC. This XP machine is a VM. No problems when joining Windows 10 machines to this DC. On XP machine, after inserting the Administrator username\password to join the domain, the error message is - error while attempting to join the domain "VIDROESTE.IND": Internal error. I can see that the XP machine account was created in AD

Unable to join domain, apparent DNS problem
This isn't exactly a Samba problem, but I am hoping the experts here can help me. I have been trying to get my OpenIndiana system to join a Samba4 domain and I was running into multiple problems. So I decided to test against a true Windows Server (2003) domain, to see if there is something wrong with my client-side setup. Attempting to join the WS2003 AD domain also fails. Snooping the

Integrate Samba with Active Directory
Hello guys, I am setting up a Samba server (based on CentOS 5.6) on my company which will act as a print and file server. Also, it has dropbox installed. I have set up everything regarding to CUPS and Samba itself, but I'm not being able to integrate my shares with Active Directory. All I want is that access control to Samba shares is made through Active Directory users and their

Cleaning up old DC DNS records
Hi, I demoted a running domain controller by running the samba-tool demote command on the running system to be demoted and there's still some DNS entries for the old one kicking around. It's still listed under _msdcs and also _kerberos._udp and _ldap._tcp. Should I manually remove them? If so, is there a list of spots to look in for DNS entries of old DCs? Also, does the fact that

question on password server =
Hi, I would like to ask how exactly the "password server =" smb.conf option works. The man pages say that the option is to "restrict Samba to to do all its username/password validation using a specific remote server" I know that we should normally leave it empty, to have samba auto-discover the DCs. But my question is: Suppose it's defined it like: > password

Demote a dead PDC: residuals in "DNS" console
Thank you for hint to this VBS script. In fact I alraedy saw it but I'm not too confident in my VB knowledge, so I didn't use that script, prefering rely on Samba command and shell scripts to work around issues. You spoke about SOA record which wasn't changed, same here. There is another DNS record I had to change: _ldap._tcp.pdc._msdcs.samba.domain.tld. I spoke about removing

Windows printer drivers
Hello everyone. My name is Bruno and I'm setting up a CentOS-based print server. This is the only GNU/Linux machine on our network, which serves something like 30 Windows XP/7 clients. I've already installed and configured CUPS and Samba. Very basic configuration. Also, I have already added our printers to CUPS. But now I don't know how to download Windows printer drivers to my print
