Second DC won't start LDAP daemon
Hello. I've got a network of FreeBSD servers which traditionally hosted a classic domain. I upgraded some months ago, removing the old PDC and BDC and migrating to an AD DC controller in a jail. This is working fine with Samba 4.4.13. Now I'm trying to add a second DC, so I created a new jail on another physical server and went on with the setup, following: >

Samba 3.4.9 net rpc shutdown and XP Domain client
Hi @all, this is an very old problem, posted the first time 2005 to samba-testers at samba.org: If I have a Domain client with WinXP, which is part of a domain and using this client, if the PDC is not available and want to remote shut down this client with the net tool from other servers, then this is not possible, because net tries to authenticate against the PDC: testeis # net -d3 -S

Samba not seeing any interfaces
I've built samba for an embedded mips platform. Since this is an embedded platform, it's possible that some critical file that samba needs is missing but stracing the daemons doesn't reveal anything strange. It's running 2.4.34 kernel. Samba is failing to find any interfaces. [2000/01/02 10:55:01, 3] nmbd/nmbd.c:main(759) Opening sockets 137 [2000/01/02 10:55:01, 10]

WINS doesn't work on some ip addresses in multihome setup
Hello everybody! Still struggeling with my latest Samba setup, I've just run accross another problem which I can't figure out on my own. Samba is supposed to act as a WINS server (among other things) on a multihomed machine. (The Samba version is 3.5.1 as part of Debian Squeeze) Here's the [global] part of the samba setup: ----------------------------------- 8<

Troubles upgrading jailed DC from 4.8.7 to 4.8.9
Hello. On several FreeBSD 11.2/amd64 servers, I've got a jail dedicated to running Samba as an AD DC. Some days ago I upgraded one of them from 4.8.7 to 4.8.9 and suddenly everything stopped working. Since it was a production box, I immediately restored the whole jail from a backup, with no chance to better investigate. Today, with more time, I tried on another server and again I run

Using winbindd socket directory for multiple domains
Hello We have a setup on Ubuntu to join multiple AD domains and authenticate using NTLM_auth with freeRadius. Since there're multiple ADs domains involved, we were using "WINBINDD_SOCKET_DIR" environment variable to use the correct cache directory for each domain. Everything looks fine and all worked when using samba 4.7.9 running on Ubuntu 16.04. Now, we're upgrading to the

Panic or segfault in Samba
The Samba 'panic action' script, /usr/share/samba/panic-action, was called for PID 2974 (/usr/sbin/smbd). This means there was a problem with the program, such as a segfault. Below is a backtrace for this process generated with gdb, which shows the state of the program at the time the error occurred. The Samba log files may contain additional information about the problem. If the

Weird Samba issues
I manage a Samba server that has been working nicely for a couple of months (after it replace the old Samba server which worked happily for years). We use LDAP for accounts, but don't use domain logons or anything fancy. All users have their home dir on Samba mapped to drive 'M:'. In their home, there are symbolic links to various directories they're entitled to access. Links

Environment variables in smb.conf -- inconsistent results
Hello! I am trying to use environment variables in my samba configuration file. The %$() directive does not seem to work consistently. Do I misunderstand something? As a success example, "include = %$(SVCDIR)/conf/smb-shares.conf" works fine. Logging with debuglevel = 3 indicates successful inclusion of the secondary file. However, as a failure example, "interfaces =

Samba 3.6.10 not reading groups
Helpp! :) We didn't catch this in testing and now it's killing me in production! I'm getting stuck with my fresh build of Samba 3.6.10. It isn't honoring groups specified in the valid users clause of the share configuration. I'm running in security = SHARE mode, and user authentication is working just fine. Even if I specify individual users on the valid users = line, it

smbclient queue and cancel commands not working
Hi, I'm trying to manage printer queues on a XP box in the lan. Other client commands work well, even echo "test" | smbclient //XPBOX/PRINTER -c "print -" works as expected and starts a print job. But either queue and cancel don't work, without debug flags with no errors. Cancel even says job is deleted. With -d4 I see # smbclient -d3 //volker/HPDJ1120C -U admin
