wbinfo -u does not listed trusted users, wbinfo -n works, idmap not working
On both Samba 4.5.1 member server and Samba 3.6.25 member server I tried the following command wbinfo –set-uid-mapping=35049,S-1-5-21-xx-xx-xxx-xxx this should have created a mapping entry consistent with the one on the domain controller for a trusted user But I got the following error failed to call wbcSetUidMapping: WBC_ERR_NOT_IMPLEMENTED As far as I can tell from network

wbinfo -u does not listed trusted users, wbinfo -n works, idmap not working

IDMAP_NSS on member server
I have two Samba 3.6.24 domain controllers (Solaris 10.) On all machines unix accounts and groups are in the LDAP as well as idmap entries for trusted domains. Samba accounts on domain controllers are in LDAP so there is problem with consistency unix/windows id and group mapping on the domain controllers. The domain controllers are the main file servers as well. I am configuring a

Interdomain Trusts
Does anyone know if interdomain trusts work in samba at all and what versions they do? I am trying to get a 1 way trust working between two domains and DOM A (which samba is joined to works in mapping users via winbind) just not the one way trust for the other domain.... DOM B Samba is just a joined member of the domain A with security = ads with nothing more than winbind id rid maps for both

Samba from Sunfreeware and nss_winbind.so
Sunfreeware.com has compiled packages of Samba 3.4.2 with kerberos and ldap support included (if you also install the ldap and kerberos packages from sunfreeware.) However it does not include the nss_winbind.so.* or libnss_winbind.so.* files. Solaris does include nss_winbind.so already (since it is included with Samba 3.0.x) or I could compile it from the 3.4.x source code. But then I

ntlm_auth NT_STATUS_INVALID_HANDLE with windbind
I should use an authenticated proxy with Squid, but I have a problem with winbind. I'm working on a PDC, debian squeeze with samba from backport (ver. 2:3.5.11~dfsg-1~bpo60+1 ) Here the problem: I can authenticate users. /usr/bin/ntlm_auth --username=myname --domain=MYCOMPANY password: XXXX NT_STATUS_INVALID_HANDLE: Invalid handle (0xc0000008) wbinfo -a myname Enter myname's

In my experience, it is fairly straightforward to get AD users trusted by the Samba controlled Domain, although

samba 4 member server in WIn 2008 domain, wbinfo fails
I have started tinkering with samba 4. I have a Windows 2008 active directory domain controller. It is also the main DNS server but is not the wins server. The DNS server does NOT allow DNS registration by client machines. I have a fedora core 19 linux machine with samba 4.1.13 (bundled with Fedora.) smb.conf includes security = ads realm = MYDOMAIN.COM

samba 3.4.5 idmap alloc broken - more details
There may be several parts to the problem: 1. Winbind on Samba 3.4.x seems unable to allocate idmap entries (UID/SID or GID/SID) , whether or not the backend is LDAP or TDB. Winbind on Samba 3.0.x is able to create idmap allocation mappings with an LDAP backend. The two problems with Samba 3.0.x are as follows - "getent" would stop showing trusted users once the cache period

Domain trusts "forgetting" trusted users
I am running Samba ver 3.0.33 on Solaris 10 (sparc) as a PDC with LDAP for the backend for both samba and unix accounts. I have also set up a trust with an Windows domain- lets call it WINDOMAIN- (the PDC for the Windows domain is Win 2003 but is in mixed mode for backwards compat.) The SAMBA domain trusts the WINDOWS domain, not not vice versa. I had also tried setting up trusts with

Member server does not show users from trusted domain
I have a samba classic domain, called it "DomainA." All domain controllers and servers are running 3.6.25 on Solaris 11. The PDC and BDC use an LDAP backend for unix, samba and idmap data. Member servers use LDAP backend for unix accounts, so the underlying unix and group accounts are consistent. There is a trust relationship with Windows 2008 AD domain

Trust between Samba DC and Windows DC
Hi, I have a problem with Samba. I use Samba 4.1.17 (because my company's security policy deny Samba upgrade) on Debian. I created a Samba Active Directory Domain Cotroller with linux.local and a Windows Active Directory Domain Controller with windows.local domain (I used Windows Server 2012 R2). I am need to create a smb share in Linux and autheticate users from windows.local domain and need

Samba4 problem with Wndows Domain Trust
Hi Gaiseric, "wbinfo -u" does not show the DOMAIN_B users. "wbinfo -n DOMAIN_B+someuser" works and show the SID of the users, also from Domain_B. "wbinfo -i DOMAIN_B+someuser" does not work. It only works for users of Domain_A. For User of Domain_B, it says: failed to call wbcGetpwnam: WBC_ERR_DOMAIN_NOT_FOUND Could not get info for user Domain_B+someuser

Unable to contact active directory or verify claim types
I am running several Solaris 11 file servers with samba 4.7.6. This is an AD domain but the domain controllers are Win 2008 R2 and Windows 2012 R2. All users and groups in AD have unix uidNumbers and gidNumbers assigned. On one file server, I am having problems where some users can not access files , via windows, to which they should have access as the group member. For example,

Winbind uselessly using up Idmap range in ldap
Hi, We have just managed to get winbind behaving correctly in a Samba domain with Samba member servers with help from Sernet. It is now not adding spurious entries for the "own domain". However, a member server keeps trying to add group mappings that already exist in the LDAP idmap ou. This would not be a problem, apart from the fact that every time it fails adding an entry, the

Wbinfo does show users from trusted domain / RPC error
I tried recreating the trusts. I start by setting up trusts on Windows side, using Active Directory Domains and Trusts on the DomainB AD server. . IDMAP_NSS on member server
I think IDMAP_RID would not be the appropriate solution for me. Not only do I want consistent IDMapping across all servers - which this could do - but I want them to match the the existing unix uidNumber in LDAP. Thanks for your help. IDMAP_NSS on member server
I don't have an AD backend for this domain. The DC's are "classic" domain controllers, Samba 3.6 , with LDAP backend for all accounts. Would this still be an option? I tried adding idmap config MYDOMAIN:schema_mode = rfc2307 idmap config MYDOMAIN:backend = ad idmap config MYDOMAIN:range = 100-300 Didn't seem to work. Thanks On 12/18/14 11:57, Rowland
