turned on log level = 10 . . . no logs
I have created a second DC and joined it to my first DC. Seemed to go
well, then not. Now experiencing dns issues. My syslog on first DC shows
"Failed to connect host 192.168.xx.49 (22******c8._msdcs.dtshrm.dt) on
port 135 - NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED." (Which is referencing the
second DC connection failed.)
Now, _please set the dns issue aside for the moment_ as I went to my

debugging bind9_DLZ
On wiki page
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/BIND9_DLZ_DNS_Back_End#Reconfiguring_the_BIND9_DLZ_Back_End
in the "Debugging the Bind Module" the section discusses the location
for the log file.
The /etc/named.log says "bash: bind: -g: cannot read: No such file or
directory" . . . I am puzzled, what "file or directory" is being
referenced?

OK, try these files:
/etc/bind/named.conf

// This is the primary configuration file for the BIND DNS server named.

Samba bind-9.12 Support
Hi,
i wanna ask how is the status of the bind-9.12 Support?
Does this works already?
Because Samba wiki says 9.11
BIND Version Supported in Samba Version
BIND 9.11 Samba 4.5.2 and later
Because i want update my System, but gentoo do not provide bind-9.11
anymore.
The patches in this Post
https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2018-August/217489.html are no
longer at git.

[Fwd: Re: [Fwd: Re: Samba 4 more complete]]
First question
To use bind as dlz is required to be compiled from source or you can use
the package bind9 repo Debian8 ??
Because I'm seeing you in the wiki
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_basic_BIND_installation
------------------------------------------
says this
If you install BIND from the repositories of your distribution, you can
skip the following two steps, but make sure it

I thought the W clients (both W7 and W10) reverse dns PTR records where
added by the ADDC automatically.
This mornings testing (nslookup of client IP addresses) is not finding
clients via their IP addresses. (Forward lookups via hostname work
fine.)
Do we (users of samba4) need to add each W client to our dns servers?
(Grated this would
